Adoption and Permanent Residency

Hello! I'm not sure if this is the place where I should be posting this but I hope someone can give me a sound advice. We are due for removal of conditions October of 2010 next year. But my husband wants to adopt my daughter who is also here with us in the US. We both flew here on CR1 and CR2 visas.

Will this create a conflict and add more paperwork (like change of name) in the immigration process? Or It's not a big deal?

Problem is my daughter is telling everyone her name is so and so when in fact it's not. And shes also in kindergarten now. We have to request the teacher to use my husband's name whenever she addresses my daughter because she doesn't know any other name or dad.

Time is of essence since she's growing up quick we don't want to confuse her but immigration issues also matter even though it's just as simple as change of name.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I adopted my stepdaughter soon after mom's and her arrival here. Made everything a lot easier for everything. She got her US citizenship also.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

Its not a big deal if he wants to adopt her. Find out first, what are the criteria for him to do so and you will be in a better position to decide when.

Do you mind telling me how long it took you to process it? My problem is the bio father signed in her birth certificate so they might need a consent from him and she's not carrying my maiden name but the bio father's name (we never were married). I know every family court is different in every state. And from what I read, if my daughter holds a 2 year greencard now, will that exempt her from removing conditions? Although that would just be icing of the cake, what matters most is the change of name for my daughter's sake thanks.
