Hey Pattu great to see you here! We're trying to make the South Asia forum ROCK like MENA! :star:

Is your hubby working long hours at his new cooking job? Did he get the 10-year green card as expected?

Tomorrow is hubby's birthday and he has the day off, don't know what we are doing yet. You know Indians - not much planning and everything is spur of the moment! He took 2 driving classes already and wants to practice, so I might (FINALLY) take him out this weekend for the first time in my car. I am SO scared!

Happy Birthday to you

Happy Birthday to you

Happy Birthday dear Nagaraju

Happy Birthday to you (F)

A few pics of the fall festival I was talking about last week. We didn't get to go much this year because of the rain, today was the last day and thankfully it didn't rain, but it was pretty chilly.

I will say this much - learning in Hindi can be tough! Especially, like you said, depending on who teaches it can easily be a mix. I've used Rosetta Stone [good but pricy], a couple of books, and here I got workbooks for the written language.

We were out picking up dinner one night and there was a children's bookstore next to the food joint - I go in and start looking at books and see that they have a range of picture dictionaries. I get all excited because I learn better with pictures/images than just text. STB Mr Catknit asks if there is an English/Hindi picture dictionary. No joke, the sales chick says "oh for what age group?" and he looks at me and I look at him and we both turn to the sales chick and with him pointing at me. Saleschick started to giggle and said "oh". Poor woman felt bad and I told her it was fine, it's just better for me to learn this way, that I know it looks silly.

I totally love that dictionary, by the way. Probably one of my favorite Hindi books.

I have a train to catch :dance::dance: . I'll be back in about a week but we may be ducking into the occasional cyber cafe while in Kerela!

Thanks for the info Lauren, I have a tenant that says he'll let me borrow his Rosetta Stone, a good program he says that is worth every penny he spent. Though like you, I learn better with pictures, so now thanks to your information, I'm gonna ask my SO to pick me a few up as well.

BTW... what does 'STB' mean?
