Hi, I've searched the guides and FAQs for the answer to my question but cannot find anything. My EAD was approved on 26th September and they say my card will be mailed within 30 days.

Can anybody tell me if I can now legally work from 26th September or do I have to have the card in my hands before I can legally work? Luckily I was offered a job today and hope to start on the 5th October.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me here.

Gary

Ok, sorry, just found a different thread stating that you must have the card in your possession. Seems a bit silly seeing as it takes 30 days to send it. Has anyone else recently received their EAD and does it genuinely take 30 days?

My husband got his 5 days after the approval email.

Congrats on the job!

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Thanks to you both, that seems a lot better. I didn't actually receive an email as yet though, I just checked it via the telephone, was the email sent to you on the day it was approved or was it a few days later?

Thanks for your help!
