You know what's interesting about Jersey, the median income is so high yet the place is still a dump. Only in America.

As they say on our mean streets, ride till you die.

Streets of Douche.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Here's the math for this "widespread grassroots campaign":

There are 535 Congresspeople.

1,000,000 pink slips have been sent:

1,000,000 / 535 = 1,869 people.

1,869 people have sent pink slips.

The goal of the pink slip campaign is to send 5,000,000 pink slips:

5,000,000 / 535 = 9,345 people.

9,345 people sending pink slips is the goal of this "widespread grassroots campaign."

I will leave the rest to the reader.

5,000,000. That's about 7% of the electorate that voted in the last midterm election. I think you can be pretty sure that most people who go through the trouble of mailing their congressman vote. Elections are very often decided by less than a 7% margin.

Of course, no one can say how many of the people sending pink slips are typically swing voters (probably not many of them, admittedly). I don't know why 5,000,000 voters expressing an opinion is laughable though.

If you'll notice, the article did not say that five million people sent pink slips. The article said that five million pink slips have been sent. There is a big difference. If you do the math, only 1,869 people sent pink slips. Each of those 1,869 people sent 535 pink slips.

Also, if one million pink slips were sent, it means that, on average, each individual Congressperson received a pink slip from three-and-a-half of their constituents. For a U.S. Senator from California, three-and-a-half of their constituents represents just over 0.00000001% of their constituents.

If there are 169 million registered voters in the U.S., and if 1,869 people sent pink slips, these 1,869 people represent just over 0.000001% of registered voters. Of course, that would assume that each and every person who sent pink slips was a registered voter. If some of the people who sent in pink slips were not registered voters, then the percentage would likely drop below 0.000001%.

I hope this clears it up for you.

It clears it up for me, I didn't know so few people were sending so many slips - I thought it was a one for one deal. Now it's even more laughable

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

In Danno-world, it's considered considered an overwhelming, earth-shaking, ground-swelling, historic revolution. But that's only in Danno-world. For the rest of us, it's good for a chuckle.

Yeah, I didn't notice that. I wouldn't consider sending notices to members of congress that didn't represent me. That does make it somewhat silly. However, you need to use the number of people who voted. Registered voters doesn't really matter since over half of them don't vote in the midterm elections.

Danno, only in your bubble and at World Nut Daily is this sort of this nonsense interesting.

Euthanasia and death panels again? How much can one beat a dead horse? They should bring World Nut Daily up on charges for violating a corpse or something.

Taxing you for driving to work? Google gas tax, wheel tax, etc. , will you? Your being taxed for rolling to work already. It's nothing new and it isn't a Democrat idea or something that the GOP wouldn't do. In fact, the GOP here in FL has just this year jacked up the wheel tax considerably to balance the budget. Sorry to introduce inconvenient facts into your bubble, buddy.

"Hate crimes" protects pedophiles? And sends pastors to prison? #######? Maybe it sends the pedophile pastors to prison - they belong there.

Congress has bankrupted the country? Where was World Nut Daily when the GOP and W did that? They're just waking up now? Fcuktards.

Anyone taking World Nut Daily seriously should consider institutionalizing him/herself. If you go for their nonsense, you've got issues.

Forgive me for getting back to this thread late, I was a little busy today.

I'm glad that when I post a little news story, so many "Lefties" are taking notice and the time to tell me how ineffectual all this is, but not one person told me how the progress on Obama Care is coming along?

I guess when you do the math, these pink slips and tea parties... and phone calls to DC are so small in number who would even notice?

I'm thinking back to a time (come with me now), it's right after the elections and so many Of the GOP lost seats we were told "obama has a virtual run on Washington".

America does not need a Bin Laden when it has Danno and Co's. Only morons continue to pump money into the military and fatten the rich, all while the country falls apart. GW would be rolling in his grave. When the leaders of the G20 saw the state of Pittsburgh, they probably went home and laughed; including China.

Have a look at this "superpower"

The Crumbling of America

America's infrastructure is collapsing. Tens of thousands of bridges are structurally deficient or functionally obsolete. A third of the nation's highways are in poor or mediocre shape. Massively leaking water and sewage systems are creating health hazards and contaminating rivers and streams. Weakened and under-maintained levees and dams tower over communities and schools. And the power grid is increasingly maxed out, disrupting millions of lives and putting entire cities in the dark. The Crumbling of America explores these problems using expert interviews, on location shooting and computer generated animation to illustrate the kinds of infrastructure disasters that could be just around the bend.

I know we're in dire straights with douchebags like you living here.

The average Joe in America has a lot more dough than the average Joe in other countries.

(Except Australia, of course - we all know the streets are paved with gold there and people

have more money than they know what to do with.)

If your neighborhood is "crumbling", maybe you should consider moving to a better

neighborhood. More affluent neighborhoods have higher property taxes and their

infrastructure is just fine.

I don't think NYC is "dog ugly" either - I think it's a beautiful city. Can the infrastructure

be improved? Absolutely.

That said, an unlimited ride NYC Metrocard costs $89. A monthly travelcard for Zones 1-9

in London costs £261.20 = $418

If the choice is between the occasional rat and unwanted smells and paying $418 for a

subway ride instead of $89, most people would choose the rats.

A Monthly card in Melbourne is $91.73 and that covers an area 50 times NYC and includes Trains, Trams and Bus services; which are all almost new.

Compared to London and numerous other first world cities, yes NYC is a ####### hole and in many areas literally. The roads are abysmal, the subway stations are old, the streets are old, and the buildings still have the 1920's dull look. Heck 8 years later and the city cannot even build a tower that terrorist knocked down.

You're also looking at the wealth of those in Manhattan. NYC let alone Manhattan represent 2.6% of America; Basically zero. How about traveling around the country to see what people are really worth?

Move back to Melbourne. Asswipe.

How about traveling around the country to see what people are really worth?

Indeed, you should.

Why? Your wealthy. You should be able to charter a jet.

I've seen America so I know what I am talking about.

Then again those from NYC seem to think their city is America, so I can understand, the skewed point of view.

You know squat. You're nothing but a blowhard.

People here see you for what you are. You don't impress anyone with your anti-America drivel. Only a complete fool would live in a country they hate when they had the means to live elsewhere. Either way, we all know you're full of it.
