Time Frame and "copies" for AOS

So I had my interview on Tuesday APPROVED - YAY!

I've been searching the forums and gathering information, however I still have a couple of questions.

So far I have deducted that the process is:

POE -> Married -> File for AOS (G-325a, I-864, I-485, I-765 & I-131) -> 2 Weeks from POE for SSN -> Work?

Now my questions are - How long is it till I am able to work? I've heard 2 - 3 months I just wanted confirmation. Why is the I-765 optional? How would you gain work authorization otherwise (I'm filing for my EAD with my AOS)?

When submitting my passport "copy" or marriage certificate "copy" would these need to be notiarized?

... and lastly I was talking with my insurance company and the lady said that I wouldn't be able to have vehicle insurance under my name until I have my green card? Is that true? You can get your US drivers licence with your SSN right?

Thank you everyone, all of your answers really help me out (L):yes:

No. Just plain photocopies. It says so in the I-485 instructions. Though the USCIS can request originals of anything. You will need originals for the interview.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

So I had my interview on Tuesday APPROVED - YAY! Congratulations! :D

I've been searching the forums and gathering information, however I still have a couple of questions.

So far I have deducted that the process is:

POE -> Married -> File for AOS (G-325a, I-864, I-485, I-765 & I-131) -> 2 Weeks from POE for SSN -> Work? It will probably take longer than 2 weeks from POE for you to obtain your SSN

Now my questions are - How long is it till I am able to work? I've heard 2 - 3 months I just wanted confirmation. From what I have seen, it is normally around that time period to receive the EAD. Why is the I-765 optional? Because you don't have to work. How would you gain work authorization otherwise (I'm filing for my EAD with my AOS)? Once the AOS is approved you would be able to work if you didn't receive the EAD.

When submitting my passport "copy" or marriage certificate "copy" would these need to be notiarized? No, but do be sure that the marriage certificate/license is the stamped one from the county recorder's office...a xerox copy of it is sufficient to submit with the I-485.

... and lastly I was talking with my insurance company and the lady said that I wouldn't be able to have vehicle insurance under my name until I have my green card? Is that true? That can vary depending on the insurance company, and many will charge higher rates until you have been in US for "X" amount of years. You can get your US drivers licence with your SSN right? Yes, along with any other documentation required by your state's DMV.
