Biometrics letter for six year old! ????

Hi all,

My six years old son and I applied for AOS after we entered the US on a K1 / K2 status and got married.

Today we got a letter from the USCIS notifying us of the scheduled biometrics appointment.

BUT the letter was addressed to my son, who is only six.

Maybe they confused our names and the appointment was suppossed to be for me?!

We only paid the $70 once!

I thought kids under 14 don't need a biometrics appointment, do they?

Was anybody in the same situation?

Hi Ewana,

I think this is part of the process. My 10 years old daughter also had to go through having her biometrics and picts. and I never paid for her because she is under 14. I believe it is USCIS Policy.

Hi Ewana,

My 2-year-old daughter had her biometrics too and I also did not pay for it. I received 2 biometric letters (one for me and one for my daughter) on the same day. You'll get your own biometric letter too. Good luck!

By the way, on your biometrics, they'll take a picture of you and that picture will be the one on your green card and EAD.

Hi! This is my first post here! A very nice and informative site! My 7 year old daughter got her biometrics done last week the same time as mine and my other 16year old daughter. My 7 year old had her picture taken and they also scanned her right index finger.

Yes, any I-485 applicant under age 14 or over age 79 needs to have his or her photograph and signature captured at an ASC. These biometrics are needed to produce the I-551 Permanent Resident Card ("green card"). Applicants in these age groups receive specific I-485 notices that are printed with the ASC code of 2, which, when presented at the ASC, provide for the capture of the photograph and signature only.

I agree with what all the posters wrote. Your six year old son must go to the biometrics appointment.
