I'm always lost at this website. Wanted to post in the Thailand Portal.

I can work as a teacher in Thailand. But all other work is prohibited. Even for free. But, I see Americans selling Thai stuff on Ebay, and they are living in Thailand. Is this legal? I hate the thought of teaching. Thanks for any information, Paul.

This issue has been discussed briefly on here, and in quite a bit of detail on Thaivisa.com. I had similar questions at some point, and I believe the conclusion I reached was "yes and no". That is, it's not uncommon for a farang to live in Thailand and, for example, work remotely (for an overseas company) without getting permission to do so, but it doesn't appear to be technically legal to do so. Then again, the line between legal and illegal in Thailand is a blurry one. If you do end up working remotely over there, for example, it would be best to keep that sort of thing to yourself. Here is the first post in the series of posts on this issue on VJ. As I mentioned earlier, Thaivisa.com is probably the best place to go to read a lot more about this.

ebay is a ripoff now.

to get paypal, you need to have a decent amount of money in your Thai bank account for 6 months. You just can't like it there like you can here (I checked; it's a MAJOR pain in the #######).

People are leaving ebay in droves...too many scams, ebay closes your auctions because then can (they often don't give a solid reason...my guess it it competes with a corporate partner).

Look at all the anti ebay sites and that's just the tip of the iceburg.

I have to go try to defraud some more people now...be back later!
