I used to smoke cigarettes when I was younger. I do sometimes whilst on vacation. On the medical questionnaire, it ask if you ever used tobacco. Even though it's not illegal, answering yes to this question would it invite other investigation? I don't want to complicate the medical in any way.

Also I had back surgery 11 years ago. I have a clear scare on my back, i'm sure the doctor will ask questions about this. I have obtained letters about my back, what the condition is called, from the consultant who preformed the surgery. It's addressed to my old house, which we lived in nine years ago, since then we have moved, will this be off a problem. The letter states my name.

Also, when I receive the Packer 3, can I book in the medical then? All is need is the NVC number? How long is the medical valid for?

For the interview I have obtained Mobile phone bills and land line itemised , since we started dating in 2007 upon till May 2009, I also have emails, some pictures about 2 months worth of MSN conversations, receipts of flowers sent, ebay receipts of gifts sent, letter that she sent me from USA.

Will this be enough proof to show at the interview?

Best of Luck. Best wishes. Thank you.

Re: the medical you would want to answer honestly so that the doctor interpreting your xray can assess your lungs. Smoking isn't an issue, TB is an issue.

Smoking will not be an issue at all. They do not care if you had ever smoked at any time in your life, as long as you are healthy and have no contagious diseases.

I did put a check mark on Tobacco use - Current Use .. They did asked me about my smoking.. said "Yes, I smoke cigarettes" .. then with follow up questions of using marijuana, meth, etc, which of course I just kept on answering No.

You can smoke 40 a day if you want. It's not illegal. Just be honest.

Why only 2 months of MSN conversations if you've been dating since 2007? Not saying that will be a problem, but what happened for the rest of them?

Ebay receipts would only prove you bought something from Ebay. I don't see how that relates to your relationship unless the receipt somehow shows you paid for the item, and had it delivered at her address? Either way, better to include them than not, but wouldn't say that's great evidence, as you could have bought the items for anyone.

Make a point of just sending some letters and cards for no real reason. I sent my partner a book and got the post office to write her address on the receipt and stamp it so I could prove exactly where it had gone, and not just 'somewhere in the US'.

Only 2 months cause I never saved the previous ones, as I didn't I needed them. Never did I think I'd need them. Also eBay, I did pay for the item. The paypal receipts state her name and address. I have also obtained receipts for flowers and chocolates sent. I have kept all receipts for letters sent to her.

Best of Luck. Best wishes. Thank you.

How do they test for TB, chest x-ray only or skin test as well? Also, is there a vaccine for TB they give you BCG if you haven't had one? I'm asking cause it'll be cheaper if I get the vaccine via my doctor, also eliminate any delays at the medical

Best of Luck. Best wishes. Thank you.

Why would you get a vaccine you don't need? That will certaily slow up the medical. Don't get creative with vaccines for the medical. Stick to what the civil surgeon is requiring for your age group and country of origin. Anything else could cause you problems.

Good luck

PS - they do the chest x-ray. It is more reliable than the skin test.

A quick search of the UK forum told me that YES they do the chest x-ray in London for the medical.

Good luck.
