Just for argument sake -

Is it REALLY that hard to find a civil surgeon around the country?

I mean - I live in - well not bumfVck but certainly not a metropolis. I remember looking at the list of civil surgeons within driving distance of us and we had several choices.

I know Dr. Arnold was easy, but.............you know what I'm saying?

Is it hard to find a CS? No. Is it hard to find a CS who won't rip you off and require a medical when one is not needed? Yes.

Mods - could we start some kind of database of CSes in different regions that DO transcribe just vaccinations and DON'T charge through the petouille for it?

I'd be willing to compile one..... madness, I know! lol... So yeah, it would have to be a work in constant progress, but I'm here for a while yet.

Actually, I've gone ahead and created an email addy for collecting this information. I'll compile it on an excel spreadsheet and make it viewable by anyone on googledocs.

If you have filed your AOS in the past 6 months, please email VJCSdatabase@gmail.com with the following information

City/ Town:

State:

Date of Service:

CS Name:

CS Tel. no: incl. area code

Cost:

Vaccine Transcription only available: y/n

Turnaround time:

If we use googledocs so it's 'hosted' off site and have a disclaimer that VJ has not verified the information in any way and this cannot be taken as an endorsement by VJ of any CS, then not sure that there needs to be any approval? I'll wait for comment here and report my own post to draw mods' attentions to it. lol...

This seems like a good idea, but may be better suited as a field or fields in the AOS timeline on VJ for a variety of reasons. The best way to get this added is to email Ewok or start a thread in the site discussion forum.

I wasn't really worried about getting anyone's approval. Rather I was thinking about centrally locating this on VJ in an area that already requires user input, such as the timeline section.

We found one in our area that would do it without the medical but even they were charging $160. We ended up taking a chance and not submitting the form after we realized we were going to get nickel and dimed (I think they were charging us like 20 bucks just so THEY could have office copies...)

As an aside I do remember the receptionist claiming they had quite a few people in that month because they did the out of state fax thing. I think I mentioned this a few times regarding Dr. Arnold last summer but even then I wasn't sure they weren't just saying that to convince us to stay.

JB -- what, please, is the EXACT CITATION (printed source, URL, etc.) for the information that you were told? Without knowing this, "what you were told" -- no matter by whom -- would seem to fly in the face of the document that Nich-Nick provided (see post #55).

Thr quoted verbage on my DENIAL letter was taken from 2 parts

1 -said it was taken from the CS Guide Handbook

#2 was taken from USCIS printeed Instruction from website

I don't have time to go back and find them again. I'm worn out chasing this down, so its up to everyone else now to do their homework. I'm a little upset that there isn't ONE decent attorney that reads all these posts and advertises on this site , that will throw in his 2 cents worth. This pisses me off as everyone tries to help each other , and we all struggle, but no one with knowledge first habd wants to speak up. I had ONE small attorney PM me and we spoke, gave me some advice for FREE, but he was a one man show, and I appreciate it,but I find it hard to believe there isn't another one reading these posts

Best I can do for now

J

i rang dr arnolds number today. it doesnt work. you get that signal thingy.

if you want a physical, cheap come to detroit, or even michigan i got quotes from two civil surgeons today, for $150 and $175. they seem quite accomodating, its worth paying a little extra to save all the headache.

You must have an old number. It works for me - just tried it. 512-444-3131

yeah i rang that number, you are right it does still work, i get confused with the signals on the phone over here. However, i spoke to Dr. Arnold's receptionist today, they are not taking anymore AOS medical stuff as Dr Arnold is retiring. So thats the end of that.....

So THAT'S what it's called when the USCIS stops you from continuing in your own merry way. We need to start referring to illegals as 'retirees' henceforth on...

Now, now... the first sentence assumes facts not in evidence, and the second sentence attaches an unfair stigma, si man...

I have just done some research, and Dr. Arnold (who was graduated from medical school in 1962) will turn 74 years old later this month. That is quite a reasonable age for retirement, si man? All of us who have been helped by him should consider sending him a card or note of gratitude, si man?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
