I am talking about the translation of documents for the interview purposes. The Embassy website just says they must be translated. It doesn't say there is anything that needs to be signed. My fiancee is VERY comfortable in speaking English. She is fluent in our language. So that is why I was wondering if she did the translation, would it be a problem. Can she just use a plain piece of paper and translate them line by line and then just sign at the bottom of the page?

For Moscow or Kiev the standards are the same as USCIS. Alla does translations for both consulates and they are certified exactly as the standard for USCIS. Certified by the translator. There is no prohibition against doing your own translations but Alla will not do it as SHE does not feel it is professional. That is her personal standard. I am not sure about the interview language issue. If she can translate she should be able to interview in either language but you can make that call

Pretty sure they have a few people at the consulate who can read and speak Russian.

No doubt. But all of that is forwarded to the USA for the AOS process and Russian speakers are considerably less common at USCIS local offices. Alla has always followed the USCIS standard for translations for Kiev and Moscow. Certified, signed and NOT notarized. No problems. I cannot say if she ever translated a document from Ukrainian to English for the Moscow consualte, I do not recall. For the Kiev consulate, yes, of course and they do not require notarization either.
