Hi everyone, I just wanted to run a something by everyone and see if I am correct. First of all is it just me or has the US Embassy in Moscow been slow to update the Interview Schedule page? Seems like it has been a couple of weeks since it was updated. Maybe it is just me?

Anyway, a few weeks ago I asked the US Embassy in Moscow to give me a status on my case, they sent me this:

DATED 9/16/09

Mr. Owens,

as of this date, the embassy has not received Ms. XXXXX immigrant visa case. The interview date the NVC scheduled is November 17, 2009. However, the beneficiary will not be invited for the interview until we receive the case. Once the case has been received by the embassy, Ms. XXXXXX will be notified by the Immigrant Visa Unit and invited for an interview.

Sincerely,

Public Liaison Unit

Consular Section

U. S. Embassy, Moscow

Now aside from spelling her name wrong in the email, it was pretty short and to the point, which is great. But, I wanted to know if NVC actually is who schedules the interviews?? If so then fine, I will take this date to heart and inform Tatiana, but I had been waiting on the posting to the website to confirm it. What do you all think? I am also considering just sending another email to confirm this one, hehe, to sort of see what they tell me this time.

I know I am impatient, but I can't help it. :)

I found her in March 08'

We met in December 08'

NOA1 on 31 March 09'

I know what you mean. I am in the same boat. I sent an email to them and they responded saying when the interview was, but they also said the packet was mailed to my fiancee. Well, as of last week, she had not received the packet yet. I believe the Embassy has received our K1 Application, from what I see from DHL, but I am not sure. I sent the Embassy another email asking them where the packet was, but they have not responded yet.

So they did not tell me it has not been recieved, only that the packet was mailed. I don't know why the website is so slow to update.

Yes they are slow to update the website but the Embassy also does it's own round of AP before they set the date. Just be patient.

Don't let this bother you. There are many who NEVER receive the packet. Just follow the instructions on the website and make sure that your fiancee knows her case # when she lines up for her interview, and everything will be OK.

I wonder why there are some that don't receive a packet? So there is no "Letter" or anything that you need from the packet?

I have printed out the instructions from the website and we both have gone over them. We are gathering documents now, so we will be ready.

Some don't receive the letter because a) the consulate probably doesn't have their act together, and b) the Russian postal system is awful.

She won't need a letter though. She'll be on the list of invitations for that day. They'll match her name to the list and let her in. Advise her to get there early though, a half hour if she can manage it. Early birds seem to get in and out fast, the later ones seem to take longer.

Just a reminder-- be sure to look at the list of panel physicians. There are some things mentioned there that she will need to obtain as well.

Also download the DS-156K from the Embassy website. For Moscow, that form is in Russian and must be filled out in Russian.

Nervous...

Don't be. Follow the instructions, dot your i's and cross your t's, provide just enough evidence of a relationship without breaking your poor fiancee's back, and she'll be fine. You've already gone through the hard part, USCIS. If your relationship is real and you have all your paperwork in order, it's as good as done. :)

Thanks.. it is hard not to worry. She is 5000+ miles away and it is really out of my hands now. I mean we will have all the paperwork and everything lined up, so it should not be a problem, but you know what I mean.

Yep, this topic comes up a lot. They say every Wednesday...they lie. I think it really comes down to how sober the web updater guy is that morning. :)

I thought they claimed every Monday, but you're right, sobriety is a prerequisite and they have some problems with that apparently.
