Hey guys,

My wife just got her I-485 interview date which is in November. I was wondering if it's normal for you to get the interview request date BEFORE the I-765 work permit.

Also, because we have this paper stating that she is in the last stage of her I-485, does this mean she can go get her social security card and attempt to get a drivers license? Also, can we open a bank account once we have one or both of these documents?

Thanks guys!

Oh yea, one more question.

Because we got our interview date already, does this mean we don't have to worry about getting an RFE?

Thank you!

I got my EAD card day after i got my interview letter. You will prolly get yours soon.

I've read a lot of thread where people have been having problems getting SSN using their K-1 visa. I dont think u will be able to apply for SSN using the I-485 NOA or interview letter. It would be a lot easier with the EAD.

My wife (USC) and I was able to open a joint checking account even before i got my SSN. We havent even filed for I-130 and I-485 at that time. I was only asked for 2 valid ID's (my passport with I-94 and philippine drivers license).
