Hey guys ,

I am currently in the US on an H1b visa. Last month i got married to a US citizen and now i'm in the midst of preparing my green card application. Have a question about FORM I-130 specifically question #22.

22. Complete the information below if your relative is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status.

Your relative is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident at the USCIS office in:

If your relative is not eligible for adjustment of status, he or she will apply for avisa abroad at the American consular post in:

Now me being the relative that lives in the US they want me enter to the City & State:

Would i enter the City & State that i live in ? or the City & State where i'll be mailing the application to which is Chicago, IL ?

Thank you

You would enter on the first part (only city and state, since you are in US). Enter the city you are MAILING the application to, which means the city of the service center that will process your application.

I used to live in New York and I inserted " Chicago, IL" since that service center was the one responsible to process my application. Hope this helps.

Yes. It is your local city and state where will you go for the interview. Find a Local USCIS office in your area.

I disagree. It says "and will apply for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident at the USCIS office in"

You are not applying to your interview location. Actually, I only found my interview location AFTER I submitted my application when they sent me the appointment letter for interview. Especially given that NY is fairly big (I used to live in NY), I think people are sent to different locations depending on which part of the city you live in.

I inserted Chicago, IL on mine, not Garden City (which ended up being my interview location). I guess the best advice here is to call USCIS and ask a customer representative. REmember to get their reference number/name and create a memo for your records. Every time I called USCIS I saved a memo file for my records. Ex.: On date, time, I called x number and spoke to Y customer agent who said bla bla bla bla.
