hi andrea, from what i understand, you send the copies so the originals will be given back to your husband at the embassy.

has anyone been able to listen to the avr? as of last night, i cannot even talk to an operator.

Thanks Kathy! Now that makes sense!!

I tried to call the AVR last night a few times. I actually got through but it kept saying that it was extremely busy and a 5 minute wait time. I stayed on the line for over 10 minutes and never got the AVR or an operator. I just thought it was super busy. That is when I went ahead and paid the IV bill

The AVR doesn't seem to be working. I tried it this morning which would be the middle of the night there and it said if I wasn't prepared to use the AVR I had to hang up and call back later. It then gave the message in Spanish and then cut me off. I tried 3 times with the same result. I just tried again and it says there is a long wait for an operator. No mention of the AVR. Maybe we've used it so much we broke it! :bonk:

Those forms are horrible! My husband gets too frustrated filling out stuff, so I did it all for him.... Yeah, he's not spoiled. And no, there is no bar code for the 230, Finn, so you are fine once you are showing paid.

And off to scanning I go!!! YIPPIE!!!!!!!!!! I SO can't wait for all of this to be done.....

Actually, it's not the forms themselves -- it's Adobe Reader. With Adobe Acrobat you can save all the data on the forms just fine, but with Adobe Reader, it is (like the name suggests) read-only. That's also why you can't create a PDF with Reader.

Also, I DID get a bar code for the DS-230 once it was paid... I sent it with my other documents.

I got the cover sheet for the DS-230 once it was paid as well. My question was if there was a bar code on the actual DS-230 form itself, and the answer is no. I emailed the 230 package over last night, so now just waiting for log in fail and case complete.

Ohh...gotcha. My apologies!

It looks like we're going to be in the exact same boat in terms of processing. I sent the last of my documents to NVC/Montreal yesterday as well. Am I foolish to be hopeful for an interview before the year is out?

I hope not, because I'm hoping for the same thing especially since my hubby has family in Montreal and we may be planning on spending Christmas there instead of our usual New Years trip to see them. But I'll settle for a January interview if I have to. But the thought of Montreal in January... BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR..... Need to find myself a parka and some long johns and some hand and foot warmers and ......

Yeah...I was thinking the same thing! It's funny -- I was just looking up the CLOSEST hotels to the Montreal embassy. There's one that's on the same block for only $80 per night, which seems pretty reasonable. Not sure I'll get much sleep the night before the interview anyhow! But yes, I've heard about how cold Montreal can get, so I want to be as close to the embassy as possible. Hey, I'm a Vancouverite, so I'm not a TRUE Canadian in terms of weather tolerance!

The reason I'm optimistic is because with Electronic Processing, the files are actually AT the consulate as we speak. And SierraTango (who I really wish would come back and tell his story!) managed to have an interview within two months of NVC case complete. So there is hope, despite some of the other long wait times at the Montreal consulate...

oooh, I just saw you are from Burnaby, BC... You don't know winters at all really! All I can say is be prepared for snow... a lot of it. $80 a night for Montreal is not a bad deal at all. My husband and I usually go on priceline.com and name our own price when we stay in town because it doesn't usually matter where we are. We can usually grab a room for $70 - $80 including taxes, but for this case, $80 is well worth it. Just remember to hold off on the celebrations until after you are approved!

I'm optimistic for the same reasons, yet I'd feel a bit guilty if I got an interview and people that were done at NVC in July and August haven't gotten their interviews yet.

oooh, I just saw you are from Burnaby, BC... You don't know winters at all really!

Well, I grew up in the interior, where there was lots of snow and cold snaps into the -20 or so range, though admittedly I've been spoiled by the much milder climate of Greater Vancouver since I was twelve.

All I can say is be prepared for snow... a lot of it. $80 a night for Montreal is not a bad deal at all. My husband and I usually go on priceline.com and name our own price when we stay in town because it doesn't usually matter where we are. Oh, absolutely! I'm just poking around, getting a sense of the costs of things. I'll post a link down in the Canadian forum to the hotel that's right beside the consulate. I'd be interested to know if anyone has stayed there.

I'm optimistic for the same reasons, yet I'd feel a bit guilty if I got an interview and people that were done at NVC in July and August haven't gotten their interviews yet.

I think I'd feel bad FOR them, yes, but you also have to remember that we've taken a bit of a risk by going with a pilot project that has woefully little direct information associated with it. We've really had to blindly feel our way through it. If it goes through quickly, just think of yourself as a pioneer, paving the way and providing key information to all of the others behind us. I plan on doing up a little Wiki page on the experience, provided things run smoothly!
