You dont have to, as long as your income is sufficient it should be fine, but in this process peace of mind is everything and if you worry that your SO does not have something that they might possibly need, then give it to them. My only recommendation is to take a few to show that they have recent income (ince you could not possibly send in transcripts for 2009 as taxes have not been filed. If you have no recent proof of income, then I would bring a few W2s showing that the sponsor is STILL employed (the economy nowdays).

Well I am going to remember to take mine just in case!! I won't have my taxes done for 2009 yet before the interview so I am planning on taking some paycheck stubs too just to show that I do have amount going in every couple of weeks!

We got the visa! Very simple. We were there for an hour and 45 minutes. We left with visa in hand. Before the interview, the interviewer asked my wife if I was there and she said yes. They told her to come get me. The interview took about 2 minutes and she said, "Well, your visa is approved." We waited half an hour for the passport. Everyone was nice. Now to buy the plane ticket. :)

Well, what else are you gonna do with all that Finnish cold and darkness?

But, yeah, we will have to pick a date, time and place. :)

Mark

PS. Anyone else in the Puget Sound area is welcome to join us...

Yes, that's true...I just experienced a Finnish winter!

So how about March??? I think we're the only ones in this thread that are Puget Sounders...

Congrats Magic and Kiliote!!!!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

Just got a call from my lovely wife. The good news is that the visas are in hand. The bad, I fear that her visa has set us off on a long odyssey of name issues (sigh). They have decided to try and put both of her last names (Spanish speakers use paternal and maternal last names, but you can just use paternal) plus the "de Lybrand" part, which is how they show married names. On her visa it cuts off at "de Ly". I bet that's going to take the better part of the two years leading up to lifting of conditions to get sorted out...

Additionally, I will be moving to a new apartment at the end of the month (getting a larger place here). As such my address will change (but on the apt no). Who do I inform of this change? The embassy (probably not)? NVC (also probably not)? or USCIS (that's where I put my money)? The change will happen before POE...

Congratulations on the visas to start off with!!!

Hmmm that is a good question about change of address after getting the visa. I wonder who do you send it to? I would call the USCIS and ask them this to start off with.

I know that after getting the visa comes the conditional green card. So there has to be someone to inform. I bet it would be perhaps at the POE????

Hello all,

We are still waiting for our case to be approved! I was hoping to get a February interview date, but it doesn't look like that will happen! :crying:

Congratulations to all of those who got their visa's! I'm jealous!
