For y'all who've gotten appointments already: did NVC send you something with this on it, or did you just find out by phone? The reason I ask is that for Lima, my wife needs an appointment letter to show before they will let her schedule a medical appointment. So, I need to know if NVC will be getting me said letter, of if I will need to coordinate with the consulate in Lima. As always, TIA.

Mark :)

Mark, I actually get to help you!!!! We got our appt. letter via email last Friday, a few hours after the operator told me about our interview date. The appt. letter give you info regarding the interview.

Congrats Dhel! Great news!

Coolness. Thanks Finn... So, later this week we will finally be able to schedule the medical appts... I wonder how much I will get to spend on vaccinations :)

Mark :)

I've got a lot of coolness going on right now where I am! It's now one degree so there's a heatwave apparently. Anyway, I don't know if you actually have to wait for your interview to be scheduled before you get that letter. Ours had the date and time of his interview...let's just hope they'll keep on scheduling! My Finn Man has been getting vaccinations already, because he couldn't find his records. It's definitely not cheap!!!!!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

I've been catching up on mine - they're free in the UK :innocent:

I just got back from my medical in London. I had a great day out. I walked for miles round London. You're right tree it's very easy to walk around. The medical is a serious rip off. They do a half assed job. They just go through the motions and take £190 for it. I had to get 2 vaccines too so it was £250 plus £100 travelling expenses but it was a much better day than sitting bored at home. I went and sat outside the US embassy and took a few photos. I hope I'm back there soon but as we can still log in it'll be next year now.

yeah, same here. immigration gives me headaches. only time i haven't had them lately is when i do not speak of it. but unfortunately, i am constantly thinking about it. husband tells me i think too much, and tries to change the conversation

Tell me, why is it that the guys are the ones that are generally more relaxed about all this? I sent him the DS-230 package minus photos becaue he said he still had some US-style passport photos of me...now he says he doesn't, but hey, it's no big deal just go take some more and send them when you have...if it were that easy to take US-style photos here I would have done!!

Well, I am a dude and I am totally obsessed. But then I tend to obsess.....

Mark :)

Don't worry, Mark, we will get there...I hope!! Which stage are you at now? We're still waiting for them to accept the DS-3230, and sent the I-864 the same day it was generated. By the way, my husband always boasts of American efficiency - I immediately emailed the DS-3230 back using the template here, and also sent in the hardcopy 'official' version using priority posting, must be signed for etc. It left the UK the same day and was in the US the next, but 7 days later it still hasn't been delivered. Very efficient

That's exactly what happened to us. It was in New York the next day and took over a week to be delivered from there.

congrats mark  with you :dancing:

You're only three days behind me K. David's girl is on my timeline, so we should be getting more good news before the day is out.

Congratulations Mark. Nothing for us so far tho. :crying:

At least the medical is out the way.

Glad you enjoyed the walk - central London is surprisingly easy, and pleasant, to get around on foot. Half-assed job or not, 190 quid for a full (private) medical isn't that bad. Which two vaccines did you need to have, if you don't mind me asking? I've caught up on the (ordinary, I refuse to have the swine) flu jab and the pneumo jab too.

I'm sorry to hear that you've missed this month's cut-off, but that means we get to catch up with you (I hope!) next month :)

I needed the dtap for tetanus cos you need it every 10 years and I've not had one since 1980 and the mmr cos when I was young they only gave rubella to teenage girls.

I was surprised how easy it is to get around and how close everything is. I went down to Buck house and took a few pics. Betty was in but she didn't invite me in for tea and crumpets! I would never even consider driving there tho. What a nightmare it looks.

It took about 10 mins. She never asked me to undress. I never even took my jumper off. The nurse and the receptionist were nice and friendly. The doctor wasn't!! The woman who took the chest x-ray hardly said a word except bark a few orders at me. Most of the time is spent in the waiting room.

there was a family there who applied for a visa in 1998 and had forgot all about it and then suddenly got approved after all that time!

Driving there isn't that bad - really! I do have to drive more aggressively there though compared to how I drive on the outskirts of London, or when I'm elsewhere in the UK. Glad to hear that the medical is that easy, although the way things are going I won't be surprised if I don't get off so lightly :P

Gosh, imagine having to wait 11 years...they must have the patience of saints :o :o :o
