CR1 interview preparations

Hello All!!

So my interview is in T-minus 6 days and I’m still a bit bugged by all these preparations and all, I even think I’m over reacting. So I better ask your opinions and have my mind cleared once and for all.

My appointment letter reads: Any original documents that were requested by the NVC but were not submitted to the NVC must be brought to the visa interview.

Unlike K1, and from what I understand in the above statement, we all know that on CR1 - original documents, papers and forms are submitted to NVC beforehand, so since it’s the case, my questions are:

1. What exactly are the ORIGINALS that I still have to bring with me to the interview?

2. is it okay to show just photocopies to the interview? (of course with some originals on hand for reference)

Below are the duplicates that I will be able to provide:

Eric’s Tax papers (latest 4 years)

I-864 form (duplicate of what he submitted to NVC)

Our marriage certificate

Below are the originals I have right now:

Eric’s Employment letter

Eric’s recent pay slips

Eric’s US Passport

Eric's Certified copy of his BC

My Phil Passport

My Birth Certificate

My NBI Clearance

…. The rest of the requirements like pictures, letters, cards, tickets, visa photos etc. are covered.

Now some glitches …

NSO Marriage Certificate and CEMAR/CENOMAR/Marriage Index – I’m afraid it’ll take a while for me to get originals since I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get it on time before my visa interview .. Pilipinas Teleserve takes more or less 8 days to deliver it. BUT if I get it before Oct 2 then thanks goodness, but if not, will it be a big deal if all that I can show is a photocopy of our Marriage certificate and no CENOMAR?

Am I still missing something?? Or am I being too paranoid?! Please, enlighten me! Thank you all in advance!

My appointment letter reads: Any original documents that were requested by the NVC but were not submitted to the NVC must be brought to the visa interview.

When I went for my CR1 interview, I had a similar letter, but it also came with an additional sheet which listed all the possible documents, and had a letter next to each one which indicated whether an original was still required, or whether they were happy with the ones already received. On mine, the NVC had already received and accepted all the documents that were relevant to our case, so I actually didn't have to take anything other than the letter, passport and photos. (Although I took a bunch of stuff anyway just to be on the safe side.)

You should look to see if you have a similar checklist, and if so, go through it carefully, line-by-line, to determine what they want. You might be in the same situation as I was, where you're already set. : )

Hope this helps,

Bobby
