How do you know if you got "touched"? Everyone's talking about touching?!

A "touch" is when the "Last Updated" date for your case changes. They don't email you about them. You just see them as you obsessively check your case portfolio several times an hou^H^H^H^H^H day^H^H^H^H week on the USCIS website Mine haven't changed since Oct 23, the day after my biometrics

I have a couple of questions:

1. Im done with my Biometrics, what happens next?

2. Once you got your I-797C(Appointment Notice), does that mean that you wont be getting an RFE anymore, as far as the documents that you've submitted is concerned?

Update: We received my hubby's bio letter in the mail today!! Our appt is 11/24 :dance: So nice to finally have it

Oooops!

We submitted what it called 1040 and W2 but not 1099. (what is it? we must have missed a lot of info ) Now realized did not include tax docs before 2008 as my husband was studying full time during 2006-2007. Arrrrghh...! I guess that what caused this RFE!?

You may not have had any 1099 for 2008. Form 1099 is a tax information statement you would receive from a bank, stock broker, etc. The 1099 reports "other income" like interest income, dividend income, misc compensation.

If tax returns for 2006 and 2007 were not required to be filed with the IRS, just include a statement that they were not required to be filed due to no income. But it sounds like your RFE is for 2008 data.

Boohoo. Seems like some of us dont have a bright Monday this week. Just got RFE as well.

Its say : In order to process your application further, the petiotioner/sponsor on Form I-864 Affidavit of Support must submit all supporting tax documentation (W2's, 1099s etc) submitted to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for the most recent tax year.

We submitted 2008 W2, 1040 and Tax Return Summary from H&R Block.

What else do we have to send to USCIS now?

Any input on what should we do guys?

Sorry to hear about that. You gotta wonder sometimes. Maybe they lost your tax documents?

Anyway, just submit what they are asking for. Did you submit the full 1040 with all schedules and 1099s? You could also get a tax transcript from the IRS. It takes a week or two by mail, but you can walk into an IRS office and get one immediatly. It you do submit a tax transcript, you should also submit the W2 and 1099 even though it says they are not needed when you use the transcript.

BTW, what's the date on the RFE?

Mark me down on the spreadsheet for receiving the notice of transfer letter in the mail today. It says "In order to speed up processing, we have transferred your case to our California Service Center. I485 is showing status online, but I765 not online yet. Biometrics tomorrow.

You need to send your last three years Tax Returns : 2008, 2007 and 2006.

Along with these Tax Returns they also want the W2's and / or 1099's that go with these years Tax filings.

A W2 is an end of year statement from your employer.

The 1099 is also a 'statement of earning' from an employer if you worked 'like' as a consultant or were self employed - the employer has to send you a 1099 form at the end of the year stating how much they paid you for the serice / work you preformed for them, so you pay taxes on this income.

Hope this helps your confusion - ask if you need further clarification. ! Hang in there - its not so bad !

See page 11 on the I-864 instructions regarding the requirement for including Federal Income Tax return.

If 2006 and 2007 tax returns were not filed because they were not required to be filed, such as in the case of low income, you need to include a statement to that effect with your RFE. If 2006 and/or 2007 were filed, then you need to submit a copy of the return (or tax transcript) with the RFE.

I got my reasons from this questionnaire on the IRS website regarding whether you are required to file or not. If you go through the questionnaire you can use it to fill in your own reasons
