Hi RebeccaAndPhil, yeah, but we'll spend the day shopping and touring around and enjoying ourselves. That's why we didn't try a walk-in earlier. Too expensive to "try" if we got turned away and had to go back later.

Kate, I doubt it is going to be a big deal. I mean, I don't think they will record every single piece of info for reference later to compare at the POE when tourists come, don't think our systems are sooo robust, but that's just my opinion, others may disagree :)

same here, the ASC office where i'm ask to have biometrics is about 4hours away from our house...so i'll just stick to the schedule to avoid waste of time and gas. :)

Desi4ever, thanks for the update on receiving your NOAs.

Unfortunately it doesn't mean you won't get an RFE. It's just a receipt notice for your filings.

Ha yea mine was early!! Minnew came with me to mine but had to wait in the car as you are only allowed family members with you inside. The building in omaha is brand new and looks a bit like a high-tech doctors office inside. It is also the immigration/USCIS court house for immigration court things. Very fancy and up-to-date inside!. The people were very nice, lots of chat and jokes. They had a tv in the waiting room for biometrics but it hardly took any time before they called me in and I was out so quickly~

Right, the systems are not robust at all. Why else would we need appointments for biometrics? They already got our pictures and fingerprints, during the visa interviews, and again at POE. Then they need us to provide them AGAIN for AOS.

If you want to make sure the person you interviewed is the same one you allowed through the POE... and is also the same who is now married - then you want the fingerprints at each step. Photos alone don't help - as appearances can be deceived. The only way to truly track that the USCIS is not being "played" is to get the prints at all three stages. Is that extreme? Yes. But it does make sure that the person who they interviewed is the same one who gets the green card. AND it makes sure that the person who came in via the POE was the one authorized to enter.
