Someone else on here who just removed conditions said that when they got their card it was for an oddball interval - 11 years or something. But they may have been counting from the "Resident Since" date which should remain the same. Maybe the 10 years is from the RoC date, which would make it a "12 year green card" by certain reckonings.

Don't know where he's getting 14 from tho.

If they are thinking of upping the interval it would be an easy way for them to cut costs in both card manufacturing and adjudicator-time overhead for renewals. I wonder if they would need to change actual laws to make that happen, or just regulations? changing regulations is much easier.

Congrats again on the approval Mike!

Thanks to SnS, monicaolivo, Greg, HeatDeath, and RebeccaAndPhil.

While we still await the cards, we are far more relaxed now.

Our next governmental action is to now align Beth's Philippine passport with her married name as it must be in the US and will be on her Green Card (since she took my last name).

I don't know how the rest of you will need to handle it with your many different countries of origin when it is the woman who is the Visa holder, but it appears to be quite a process for Filipinas. [in the Philippines by law/custom the "maiden" will have a name constructed with "(Given) / Matrinomic / Patrinomic." When she marries she changes to (Given) / Patrinomic / Husbands. Of course in the USA the middle name is a second "given" and does not change at time of marriage. So getting the paperwork done properly and officially through the Philippine Consulate in San Fransisco (where they actually understand the issue) is really the thing to do before we travel outside the US - from what I have been told.]

Yep.That means they got the GC back from the manufacturer ( http://www.lasercard.com , some interesting stuff in there), and have printed the mailer. They might even have mailed it by now. I forget if the "approval notice mailed" email for the GC refers to the GC or the welcome notice. Either way, you'll have it soon! :)

Hey Guys, first of all I want to say congrats to all who got their Green Card and etc etc etc.

Interview tomorrow. Think I'm prepared but time will tell. We still don't have any hard copies of our wedding photos so my husband is bringing in his laptop. #######...it's only just dawned on me this second...I wonder if laptops are even allowed in a federal building. Oh noooooooooo.

I think the rules are similar to the consulate: no electronics. Print em out on normal paper, black and white if necessary. Better than nothing, though it probably won't be necessary.

You'll be fine! Good luck!

That seems right. Two "Card Production Ordered" emails about a week apart, followed closely by an "Approval Notice Sent" email? That's what I got. The intervals are a little different, but the order seems fine. I didn't get my Welcome letter until after the three emails, but I don't think that matters. The email sequence seems fine.

:)
