Hey everyone, sorry in advance for the long post! So, my husband and I have our interview on Jan 14th but I'd like to share the list of what we've compiled and placed in an organizer. If you don't mind, please look it over and share your suggestions of anything else we could possibly add (especially for the bona fide section, I'm hoping we have enough).

Here are the subsections of our folder:

Identifications documents including:

  • Each of our passports
  • my husband's form DS-2019 for his J1 visa
  • copy of my husband's entire passport (with his I-94 paper)
  • Each of our birth certificates
  • copy of my hubby's EAD & SS card
  • My social security card

AOS forms including:

  • Copies of all forms we sent in; 130,485, 131, 765, 864 and his medical exam
  • all the forms USCIS sent us (NOAs, interview letter, bio letter)
  • His AP & EAD documents

Work/Income:

  • My husband's...1040, tax transcripts, W2, letter of employment, and pay stubs for the past 6 months
  • My (I am the petitioner but we included my husband's income on the 864 as well)...1040, W2s, letter of employment, pay stubs since I started my job in July

Evidence of bona fide marriage:

  • marriage certificate
  • Joint lease
  • joint health insurance (we printed the page on our insurance's website that has me listed as the co-insured on my husband's policy)
  • Car insurance with both of us insured with Geico
  • statements from a car loan we have out in both our names
  • statements from joint american express credit cards
  • Joint bank account statements (savings & checkings)
  • wedding registry
  • wedding photos
  • receipt from our wedding rings from Kay's
  • old letters we wrote back and forth to each other while we were dating (the envelopes are stamped with the dates)

Honeymoon:

  • Ticket stubs from our trip
  • receipts from places we went to
  • photos

Anything else you can think of? We have originals and copies of EVERYTHING in our folders  Thanks for reading & for feedback! :star:

It's good to know others have similar evidence papers :star: Good luck this week!! I'm sure you'll do great. We will probably be running through our file of papers a few times before the interview to make sure we know where everything is. In my experience, sometimes I drank a blank when under pressure so it's best to be prepared! You might want to do so as well if you think it will help  Looking forward to hearing your good news!

Hi guys. Happy New Year. I was just reading the post of stuff you have gathered for your interview. We have been gathering the same things for a couple of days now. We just realized that we only have a copy of my husband's birth certificate. The original was turned in at the consulate in Juarez for the k1 interview. Doe you think this is going to cause a problem tomorrow at interview?

Hmm..I wonder why they took his original BC? Is it because you didn't have a copy? In our interview letter it says to bring the original and a copy of everything, otherwise they might keep the original for their files. I'm guessing that they probably will want to see his original BC but the best you can do is still show up and see how it goes. Don't bring it up unless asked and if they do want to see it then you will just have to request another and send it in later. At worst they might hold off on approving until they receive it but they might just accept a photocopy and you will have nothing to worry about! Do you have enough time now before the interview to request another original?

Thanks for the response. We had two copies in Juarez, and they said they wanted the original bc. Now I'm really freaking out. Our interview is tomorrow morning at 10:45. #######.

Well just try not to panic. If they requested the original in Juarez then it must have been for a reason. If the IO asks you about it tomorrow, just tell them what happened and why you don't have it. They won't reject you just because it's not in your hands. At the most they will ask you to send it to them ASAP at which point your case will resume. But who knows, they could accept a photocopy and you get approved tomorrow! Just try to focus on the interview and not this little detail, you will drive yourself crazy otherwise (trust me, I've been trying not to go crazy about this interview since we got the appt date! lol). Don't worry about it now, just get through tomorrow and be sure to let us know how it goes! Good luck (F)

Trust me, I know how you are feeling with this interview. I'm already nervous and ours isn't for 2 weeks :P I don't know how I would have made it this far without VJ, it's so nice to have other people who are experiencing something similar to what we're going through. Hang in there, take deep breaths, and act natural tomorrow :star: I hope your IO is kind and patient!

Savaleta:

The big K-1 visa packet you handed the CBP officer at the PoE contained your entire application history: everything that you had handed USCIS and the consulate up to that point. My understanding is that that packet eventually ends up getting routed to your local USCIS office for use by the local IO for the interview. That original birth certificate may very well be in the file your IO has :)

The best advice is to not worry, and think positive thoughts. If you have faith, pray, It really does work. Indeed, for a lot of things that seem completely outside our control (like whether the IO is in a good mood that morning! :) ) it's the only thing that does. Read Psalm 91. Whether you're Christian or Muslim or Jewish. (Heck read it if you're any ol'faith); all three of those say that it comes from G-d.

" I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust." Ps 91:2

DON'T PANIC

"It says wonderful things about the two countries [Canada and the US] that neither one feels itself being inundated by each other's immigrants."

-Douglas Coupland
