Again... wrong direction of causation.

Dumb kids tend to do dumb things, which in turn causes them to get spanked.

It doesn't mean they are dumb because they were spanked - they were spanked because they're dumb.

Not at all. But spanking can be abusive. If a parent finds themselves spanking their child often then I think the family needs counseling.
