HI all,

I m doing I-130/I-129f route to bring my wife in the states. USCIS just cleared the first check and assigned a case# to my I-130. I should be expecting NOA1 pretty soon for my I-130 which would then allow me to send I-129f for futher immigration processing. I m sure I still have lots of time left before selecting CHOICE OF AGENT and preparing I-864. However, I am so confused on "choice of agent" part and would like to know about it ahead of time.

My wife got her Indian Passport done through a local travel agent back home(india). Can we use our local travel agent as a CHOICE OF AGENT. How does this whole process work? Please advise. T.I.A :)

Hi,

As the USC, and i'm assuming your filing the papers yourself, not a lawyer, then you should select yourself as the agent. Then all corespondence will go to you.

NVC generates and sends the DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) to the alien spouse.

At the same time NVC generates and sends a copy of the DS-3032 and the AOS Bill to the petitioner.

It is the alien spouse who completes the DS-3032 (Choice of Agent)

Have a read of the Timesavers thread. In the first post you will also find how you can email your choice of agent to the NVC as opposed to completing the form.

Many elect the USC spouse as the Choice of Agent to save time throughout the NVC process as international mailing can add quite some time to the process.
