My other thread about credit ratings gave me the idea to ask this and this is “off topic” after all so why not ask! lol

I’m in Central Florida looking to buy a new car and so far my new friend is called the Nissan Versa 1.8, Hatchback, Manual, Air, CD/Stereo, side airbags and a bunch of other standard stuff and that’s about it, it’s the basic model. Sticker is around $13,985 plus the 3 T’s and every other fee the dealer can think up. I’m coming away at $16,900 from most dealers “out the door”. A week after I started I’ve got all but one down to around $14,300 and $14,600 out the door.

I know there are people in here that have bought more cars than I’ve had hot dinners lol.. what do you think.. am I still being ripped or getting a decent deal? I feel I can still get them to go under the $14k and into the high $13’s if I show up right near the end of the month with a blank cheque. Assuming I get approved next time for credit lol

Oh boy. Aidan, those Versas have not received very positive reviews.

I would highly recommend reading up on Consumer's Reports on their top picks in that category.

A Hyundai Elantra or a Honda Civic, Fit would be a much better buy.

I suggest a Toyota... but that's because that's what my family has had forever.

They're long lasting cars at decent prices.

My fiance's is 15 and going strong.

ty a '73 Ford Pinto ...

This is a very documented model that is sure to be a hot number

When we graduated high school in '75, one of the girls got a pink Pinto for a graduation gift. It was the color of Pepto Bismol.

I can't think of that model without picturing that hideous pink car........

I'm trying to get a decent car that will last and not cost $20k out the door the civic is just more than what I want to spend. The Fit just isn't really my style of car lol I'd think about an Elantra but all I ever see in Florida driving them are old people.. it's an old person car to me now lol

I really hate the inside of the current Toyota's, it's terrible I couldn't pay more and get a lot less on a Toyota. Although I don't doubt that 15 year old Toyota is better than the current cars. My 11 year old ford is still driving well and without any issues so luckily I'm not pressed to buy right now just thnking I could scoop up a good deal near the end of the month and near the end of the year!

I did look at that as an option but don't I want a 2007 model with 40k on the clock that costs $2k less than a new 09 with 0 on the clock? Recently new and used are very expensive from the dealers.

I have a 2005 Elantra and wasn't sure the style fit me either, but it's turned out to be a really good car. The newer models look even better. It's comparable to the Civic in terms of quality but for thousands less.

A car is usually a very bad investment. Loses something around 20% of its value as soon as its driven off the lot.

Hunt for a bargain slightly used: http://www.carclassifiedsbystate.com/12/ni...ersa/index.html

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

Anytime you can buy a new car in the USA for under $15,000 in this day and age, you have done well. Look around everything is $15,000 and up anymore, everywhere at every car dealership, it is the new reality, used to be anything under $10,000 7-9 years ago but not now.
