Timeline

Hi,

I have just married my american fiancee and will change my name to his shortly. I can not change my australian passport until i return to australia. Should i use my married name on the AOS forms, or should i continue to use my maiden name?

06/30/09 - Interview

09/13/09 - US Entry

AOS

09/22/09 - Married

10/09/09 - Filled for AOS

25/01/10 - Green Card Approved!!!

Use your married name, if that's what you will go by. You will keep the marriage certificate as proof of a name change until the Aussie passport is changed. My wife did this and it worked well.

I've heard people have a rough time changing the name after they already have a green card. Basically use the new name for everything in the US and as you can, change things in Aus.
