model 94?

is there another one ..worth owning? a great rifle....and fun to shoot and act like chuch connors or rooster cogburn

My old Marlin 30-30 Model 336 can give it a run for the money. It was the first gun I ever bought for myself (even though I already had inherited some guns from various relatives before that). I bought the Marlin at K-Mart back in the early 1970's for $87 new. I still own it. It will knock a deer azz over tea kettle easily out to 100 yards. I've shot several deer with it in its' time. Well worth what I paid for it.

As far as criminal repellent goes...I prefer my old 12 gauge Mossberg Model 500 fitted with the spare 18 1/2" barrel I bought just for that purpose. Nothing gets a bad actor's attention better than the sound of round being jacked into a pump shotgun.

Neither one is an expensive gun, but they do the trick.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

I like when movies have sound of a hammer being pulled back, when the pistol is clearly a Glock, XD, ect.

Learned to standarize the ammo myself and have mostly 9mm's now. Couldn't get rid of my .357 or .38 so keep just a couple of boxes of ammo for them. Saw I was getting low on the 9mm and went to the stores to buy more and everyone has been out. I go in on the day the ammo gets delivered and by the afternoon they are out again. Been wondering why the run and all and now I know why. Want to hit the range and put a few hundred rounds through a couple of my 9mm's but hate to get low on ammo. Also just found out my CHL is needing to get renewed.

My wife who was so afraid of the weapons is coming around nicely. She wants her own now so need to hit the gun shows and find her one. She has very small hands so I will take her and let her try and hold a some and see which ones she is comfortable holding and stuff and take her to the range to show her how to shoot.

No ....you don't.

The .30-30 was chambered only in the M1894 and other variants of that action (m64, etc.) John Wayne used a Model 1892 which was never chambered in .30-30 and could not possibly contain a cartridge of the .30-30s length in the short, mid locking action. Only by moving the locking bolt to the rear and incoprating a dropping link in the floorplate to mount the lever, was Winchester able to accomodate the longer .30-30 cartridge which was not introduced until 1895...long after the "period" of most of John Wayne's westenrs (the 1892 came out long after most of his movie periods also and the REAL John Wayne, were there such a thing, would likely have been using the Model 1866 or M1873 Winchester)

The Model 1892 John Wayne used was chambered in .44-40 and beloned to him persoannly, it was NOT a prop gun. Likewise the M1873 Colt revolver. The model 1892 was factory available in .25-20, .32-20, .38-40 and .44-40 cartridges, all nominally "pistol" cartridges

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

i also, perfer clint...but as a lad...watched john wayne films with my dad....

my dad hated john wayne allot..liked his films but hated him..stated he lied and did not have to serve during WWII and plays a war hero...he liked hios westerns but puked at the longest day,..sands of iwo jima...green berets..as he saw wayne as a coward...

As the majority of male leads left Hollywood to serve overseas, John Wayne saw his just-blossoming stardom at risk. Despite enormous pressure from his inner circle of friends, he put off enlisting. Wayne was exempted from service due to his age (34 at the time of Pearl Harbor) and family status, classified as 3-A (family deferment). Wayne's secretary recalled making inquiries of military officials on behalf of his interest in enlisting, "but he never really followed up on them."[23] He repeatedly wrote to John Ford, asking to be placed in Ford's military unit, but continually postponed it until "after he finished one more film."[24] Republic Studios was emphatically resistant to losing Wayne, especially after the loss of Gene Autry to the Army.[25]

Correspondence between Wayne and Herbert J. Yates (the head of Republic) indicates that Yates threatened Wayne with a lawsuit if he walked away from his contract, though the likelihood of a studio suing its biggest star for going to war was minute.[26] Whether or not the threat was real, Wayne did not test it. Selective Service Records indicate he did not attempt to prevent his reclassification as 1-A (draft eligible), but apparently Republic Pictures intervened directly, requesting his further deferment.[27] In May, 1944, Wayne was reclassified as 1-A (draft eligible), but the studio obtained another 2-A deferment (for "support of national health, safety, or interest").[27] He remained 2-A until the war's end. Thus, John Wayne did not illegally "dodge" the draft, but he never took direct positive action toward enlistment.

LOL Yeah they gussied up a M94 and passed it off a cheap substitute for the M1892 which was a much finer rilfe. In fact they were ALL finer rifles, the model 1892, 1886, M71 and my persoanl favorite, the M1895, unquestionably the finest lever gun ever made. Problem is all of them were too finely made and the M1894 was adaptable to modern manufacturing methods and all the others got discontinued so the "bargain price" M94 could be made. Hey, they ain't a bad gun, I have 3 of them in various forms (but not the John Wayne special) but they are a poor sister to the others and John Wayne never used one (though there is a scene in "Rooster Cogburn" where he is holding a cheap Daisy BB gun which LOOKS like a model 94, he had to be as drunk as Rooster Cogburn to pose with that piece of plastic #######) It is near the end of the movie.

Or when the auto pistol is out of ammo, the slide locked open and the gun keeps "clicking" as the moron continues to try to fire it.
