got NOA with 595 $ but my cashed single check was 675 $. As our Finger prints stay in system according to USCIS for one year so it seems that cant ask me to give the finger prints again so that is reason they are not showing 675 $ on NOA. Not sure what will happen next whether they still ask me for FP. tThey should not though because they already have my n-400 application with my valid old FP from I-751 application still there. Not sure whether they will reutn 80 $ FP back to us or will eat it without even doing FP for N-400.

Let's share your past experience and speculations about this new USCIS phenomenon.

the filing fee is what they record on the NOA... not the filing fee + the biometrics... they will not be sending any money back...

YMMV

Must be something new recently added, never saw any dollar amount on any NOA, not even a thank you for sending the fee and selecting the USCIS as your immigration provider. Ha, like you have a choice. Don't get a thank you either from the federal or state IRS or when I pay my property tax bill. Threats is more like it, they seem forget where their paycheck is coming from. You have people that work hard in this country and the parasites that bleed off them, would be nice if they said thank you to ease the pain. Would just ignore it, and you pay the 80 bucks whether they take new finger prints or not. Talk about redundancy, they have three sets, thought finger prints were never suppose to change.

Hi Everyone,

Hmmmm.....this is my theory about the NOA for the N-400:

For fingerprints/biometrics, they can:

a ) Re-do them over again for the N-400, even though one has done them recently (within 15 months, I think the rule is).

b ) They can re-use the fingerprints/biometrics done before for previous cases (such as the I-751, within 15 months).

They know probably know that one can appeal (I wonder if anyone has ever done this before though and been successful at it) for charging for fingerprints again...so to protect themselves, they cashed the check in for biometrics, but not give a receipt for it. So one would not have proof that they paid excessively for such even though they didn't have to pay for it again because of the time limits of the validity of recent fingerprints/biometrics...

Lol..Either that, or they are just lazy, incompentent, or whatever else.....

Sigh, it doesn't seem fair to have to pay twice for something within a short timeframe...What a rip-off!...

Oh well, that's the way it is with the USCIS...pay or your file doesn't get processed.....

Regardless, for everyone: Keep records of all checks, mailings, correspondences, etc. with the USCIS...

Who knows if it will ever be needed for an appeal, expedite, government intervention, etc. someday...

Just a theory, not fact...Anyone else have any thoughts on this too?

Ant

P.S. I got the NOA for $595 instead of $675 which I paid for....Nevertheless, I still kept records on my end...Ha, they can't say I didn't pay them this time around (like they did for my AOS case before...see my detailed timeline for more info...).....
