My wife and I had our interview today and it went very smooth.

Once we'd been called in from the waiting area we were sworn in and the officer asked for our ID's. He asked us how we met, when I arrived in the states and whether my wife worked. He also asked whether we had kids. My joint-sponsor did not qualify so we have 3 weeks to find somebody else since my wife and her family do not make enough money but the officer said that we didn't have to come back anymore since he believed our marriage is real and gave us a form (including his office address and name) to send in with the new I-864. Once he approves the new joint-sponsor my greencard will arrive in the mail. He didn't look at any of our scrapbooks but he did look at joint documentation that we had together. He also said that we should try to get some more joint stuff while we're trying to find a new joint sponsor but that what we brought today was already good too. He said to maybe open a Costco membership together and apply for a credit card through our joint bank account.

The whole experience was nowhere as scary as we thought it'd be. I would advice anyone to follow the assembly instructions on here closely and try to file everything at once. I feel like having an organized file for them relaxes them too ;)

So any advice on what we can get together apart from Costco and Blockbuster? ;) Thanks guys.

You both can get library cards, there are some newspapers and/or magazines out there that let you subscribe for " free" for few weeks. Usually you need to give a credit card info, and if you don't want to subscribe after your " free" period, you need to call to cancel. If you do on time, you won't be charged.

The same thing for Netflix.

I am not sure if you are a member of a church or religious group. Usually you can register with your local parish, and they usually mail you stuff.

I don't know which country you are from, but in most cases, your local consulate in US have something that you can " register" with the consulate. They like to know which citizens are living in US, etc. I just " registered" (don't need to pay anything) with my local consulate here in San Francisco. And there is a section to insert name of spouse, emergency contact, etc. You an request a confirmation from their part as well.
