My husband and I went through AOS interview 2 years ago in New York (Garden City office). We had got married few months before.

My advice for people who are going to have their interview as a married couple. When you gather all documents to bring to the interview, make sure BOTH of you know where in the pile each document is. Since I was the one who organized most of the papers, my husband didn't know exactly where each document was. We had a plastic folder (probably 2 inches) with documents, papers, photos. During the interview, the officer asked my husband to show proof of joint accounts, mails, etc.

I gave him the pile and he looked at me like "where in this huge pack?". When I tried to point to him where it was, the officer became very angry and said "I asked YOUR husband to get it. Not you."

Make sure you only answer questions that are directed to you. Don't try to answer your spouse's question (even if she/he doesn't remember). Wait until the officer directs the question to you.

During the interview, the officer picked one card that I had given to my husband on his birthday, and one picture from our wedding (with his family in the picture). So, whatever cards you bring, just be aware that the officer may keep one of them. If you are particularly fond of a specific card, don't bring it.

It seems they liked to see pictures where we both appeared with friends and family, rather than pictures with just the 2 of us.

Those are my hints. Feel free to post yours so other people can learn from our experiences. Good luck to you all! I am in the process to remove the green card conditions now.
