There are some ways that could work. Basically if you have a job, that will make at least half your day go away. If not....then you could start reading a book or get any hobby that you would like. Do some chores around the house. Enroll in a gym, or create an excercise routine. Maybe some else can give some more ideas.

PEACE............

When you love someone from the bottom of your heart; so much that you are willing to give your life for your loved one, time and distance takes a backseat. Only love prevails. And with love in you hearts you can overcome anything.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

 Well if use use your imagination you can have fun while waiting for your love to come. I've started going to the gym (good idea Victor&Cory) and rearranging & cleaning everything in the house from top to bottom. I'm painting the bathroom and hanging new pictures around different places (pick out some special ones of you two together to blow up and frame :D ). Make room in the closets, drawers, and bathroom for when your honey bunny comes. One thing I do thats fun is I've gotten this blue storage box (my fiance's 'welcome home honey' box  ) and each payday buy something to go in it for him he will need when he arrives. As the petitioner until they get a job money may be tight on one salary and with the visa journey process; so stocking up on some things if its clearanced or on sale makes sense. I've told my fiance bring only clothes & important things. I've put things in his box stuff like men's facial wash, shower gel & scrubbie (they don't have those in his country; just good ole soap), razors, shave gel, new undies, and 'his' own set of keys to things. My fiance has never seen snow either so he is gonna freeze to death & yep got plenty of thermals, scarves, hats & gloves for him in that box too..LOL. Maybe you can think of something fun for you to do now to pass the time. Soon you'll be together forever and starting a new journey!! (L)

Best wishes for a super speedy visa journey!

Excellent idea about the storage box. With each addition one can feel connected/close and also have fun anticipating the arrival and opening fo the box.

Other things like local maps, places of interest may facilitate the assimilation upon arrival. Make a list of suggestions of things to do & places to see. Share it often. Your honey will know you are thinking of him/her. Keep a small diary or blog of ideas and thoughts each day. Then you can share it.

Call and talk often. Calling cards have good prices so it is worth it. I am in the early stages but already since February 2009 I have almost 80 hours of call time logged.

As far as job, if possible, store of bank vacation time if possible. Upon arrival, you may be able to take many 3-day weekends (Friday's off) so that you can have time together.

The things that you do in normal days will be new upon arrival. Make a simple itierary with directions (bus routes & schedules if applicable). He/She will not feel lost in the new environment/country In a matter of speaking, you will be the teacher and he/she is the short-time student.

When you really love and miss your heartbeat, there is no easy way or formula that I can give; however just focus on the fact that one day (soon) you both will be together for always.

Violent physical exercise.

Of course, my philosophy is: "If I'm healthy enough to exercise, I'm healthy enough NOT to," si man.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi everyone!

Does anyone have any tips on how you spend your time away from the one you love? How do you make time go faster when you're missing someone bad?

ISC - The Internet Scrabble Club

This is kind of funny because I used to spend many hours playing scrabble online with total

strangers (many of whom became casual but not serious friends). When I started chatting

daily with my SO/beneficiary I just dropped that because I couldn't devote time to that.

She won and scrabble lost.

Recently I re-joined the ISC and she joined for the first time. I still play other people

but mostly it's with her. On every trip to Thailand we played scrabble in English in real

life but I never thought to bring it online until recently and I knew exactly where to go.

I've taken many screen shots of our completed games to add a new kind of evidence

which supports the idea of us spending time together and also her knowledge of English.

She is not unique, because Thais are world-famous for being scrabble-crazy and some Thais

have even dominated world championships in scrabble against native English speakers.

On every one of the games that I took screen shots of, I used the command "date" to display

the current date and time in the chat window that accompanies the online scrabble board.

When you click on this link you may think this is an amateurish application because it

looks like a text based/DOS program. That's because it originally was. It's very powerful

when you use the commands instead of the menu-driven system. It's not as graphic as

many other programs but it makes up for that in many other ways. You can click and type

to lay down tiles in a row in either direction or you can drag the tiles from the tray.

There are a number of internationally approved dictionaries to use and you can choose

the various challenge options or just have every word validated automatically or it can't be played.

You can either open yourself for a challenge according to certain criteria you set or you can

seek others who offer challenges according to their criteria (then you have to play by their rules).

An amazing tool for finding a game is their challenge graph which shows every challenge as

a dot on a graph. Your dot will appear further to the right if the game time you request is

longer and higher from the bottom if your rating is higher. You seek other games according

to game time and strength of opponent.

Ratings change automatically after every game and you can ignore or report other players

as they can do to you. You can observe highly rated games or observe any game in progress

(with their permission of course).

Like VJ, they have a great group of moderator volunteers. And it's FREE

Skype is the best thing ever in this situation. Seriously. It is free to download, free to instant message and free to webcam from computer to computer. You can even buy credit if you want and call an actual phone.

My fiance and I have talked/written everyday since the day we met. I think that communication is very important. Also I try to make sure that I do not get upset about things when I might have misunderstand the intent behind what is said. Voice inflection means alot, and when you are reading what is said it changes things. I make sure to clarify anything I am not sure about.

I second the skype thing. I got a North America plan for unlimited calling to landlines in US and Canada, for $23 (i know many of you have to do overseas but their long distance rates are quite cheap as far as I know.

J and I met on a forum and so for 3 years we've been primarily long distance (as I'm sure many here have been for long time, and developing relationship completely online).. many many many long 5 hour conversations on voice.

It does take some different kind of communication skills to interact in text, because some info is missing, but doing the work has been so valuable.

We also play scrabble, and have programmed together, geeked out together, through skype he transferred episodes of Futurama to me and we'd count down, press play at the same time, and watch TV together  bit of a delay, but we could hear each other laughing.

I'll even admit, we've used webcam and fell asleep, leaving it on overnight and then the sun comes up and we wake up together. don't yell at me for using all that bandwidth!

It's a big adjustment to then finally be living in the same place! How we related changed/will change. Being married is also a big change, however much some will say (including me) that it's more of a legal on paper thing, it makes a difference, and it's a challenging transition for many, even though it is one of the happiest things evah!

The time goes. The saddest parts was when one of us would return home after a visit, and then the unbearable feeling of the next visit being so far away. But then the time goes... Keep connecting. Just keep connecting, however that can happen at the time.
