Hi everybody,

so I arrived to the new building 45 minutes earlier tha the appointment, went through airport like security but very friendly and proffesional, the security officer asked me what I was there for and I told him citizenship interview he instructed me to go to window #8 and hand in my letter, I did and again smilly face and nice attitude. she told me to set down ( she said please set down actually) and wait for your name to be called, I was called after an hour and the officer led me to his office swore me in and went through my file and said nice pacagke I need to see your passport, I handed it to him he looked at it and went through the application questions asked me to sign the application, asked me six quetions and laughed as he was going to test my english ( I am Canadian) but he did it anyway asked me to read and write " Canada is north of the United States". told me that I have passed and if I have any questions to him which I said no, gave a sheet with me information an asked me to check it and initial it.

he went on clicking on his computer the picked up a stamp and stamped a red approved on my file, told me we have a ceremony on the 30th of the month and if this date is OK which I answered yes.

He stood up, shook my hand and congratulated me with a big smile, then walked me back to the waiting hall, told me to wait for another person to get the oath letter.

After about 15 minutes a lady came out with a punch of letters called the names and explained the quetions on the back told everybody to tell here if date change is needed. or if anyone has a question, very kind attitude and always smily face.

Good experienc in Detroit office everyone is friendly and helpful, the office is well organized and everyone seemes to be in tune.

please let me know if anyone has a question

I would like to thank everyone on this forum for making this proccess easy and understood, you guys have been big help.

thanx

Congratulations!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Hi Onion,

Congratulations on passing your citizenship interview and thanks for sharing about your experience here on VJ.

Good luck with the rest of your immigration journey too, especially with the oath coming up for you at the end of the month.

Ant

P.S. Nice to meet another fellow Canadian on vj! And yes, the English portion of the test should have been easy for you. Lol..Just make sure that you don't confuse American English with Canadian/British English! What were the civics questions that they asked you, by the way?

On a technical note, "Canada is north of the United States" might or might not necessarily be true. For example, Alaska (a state of the USA) is north of some parts of Canada (most of the Canadian provinces).....Oh well....let the immigration folks figure that one out...we know better....;)
