HI, I have a question concerning the DS-230 Part I. My husband is the US citizen and I am the beneficary. That means that I have to fill out the DS-230 Part I and only Part I for the NVC and not Part II, b/c I will have to fill that out at the consulate. Is that right?

My other question is: In Line 1. of the DS-230, No. 1 I have to put in my name, right? And do I than have to put my husband's name in question 14.? And what do I have to write in question 21.a) and 21.B)? Also "Signature of Applicant" means that I (=beneficary) have to sign, right?

I'm sorry if my question must soud weird, but I'm so confused. I hope somebody can help.

Thanks in advance!

DS 230 part I and II are the Immigrant Visa Applications for the beneficiary. Yes, you have to fill out the part I and then sign and date it. Usually, the beneficiary (you) also needs to fill out DS 230 part II and take it to the Embassy for the interview. The difference is, you will need to sign the part II in front of the consular officer during the interview. But there are exceptions: Beneficiaries from some countries (Lebanon, Phillippines, whole Continent of Africa, plus some other countries) will need to submit both parts (I and II) of DS 230 to NVC, as NVC schedules interview dates for those countries as opposed to the US Embassy. So please check the NVC forums about which countries' applicants need to send both parts to NVC.

I do not have a part I in front of me. But, when is askes for your husband's name, date of birth, occupation, address, etc, you write down your husband's information, who is your petitioner. If you can write down the questions 21A and 21B, then I can try to answer them. Yes, "signature of applicant" means the beneficiary (you) must sign there.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview
