Co-sponsor not necessary but...

I am from England and looking to move to America. My fiance earns $1000 over the minimum for us 2 which I believe is like $18k. So technically we dont need a co-sponsor. He has only had this job just over a month and by the time we fill in I134s it will be around 4-5months he will have had it, so should we get a co-sponsor? The job seems secure and he can get a letter from his boss saying that he intends to keep him on no problem. We can easily use his mother as co-sposnor but im not sure whether using a co-sponsor will affect our chances of getting the visa. Also using one when not necessary might look silly. Im trying to weigh out whether him earning just above the line and not having the job long, is worse than using a sponsor. Does anyone know anything about this.

Thanks in advance :)

My husband only had his job for three months before we went to the interview (he had been unemployed for 6 months before this). We supplied them with an employer letter stating his salary and the permanance of his position, tax returns (showing a stable earning history) and weekly pay stubs for the duration of his current employment. They took the tax returns and the employer letter and that was it.

If your fiance is over the amount, then a co-sponsor is probably not necessary. Demonstrable permanence of his current job will be more than adequate proof that he can support you.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion

You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

I was in the same position, made more than enough but had only been working for around 9 months. I used my mother as a co-sponsor just in case. It won't affect you negatively so I think it'd be wise to prepare the paperwork just in case.

Because you're doing a K-1 you won't have to submit it before the interview like I did. You should come prepared with both sponsors, only hand over your fiance's paperwork and if the officer seems skeptical you can then offer the co-sponsor's. I think it's better to have everything ready just in case than to go home disappointed on the off chance they want a co-sponsor and ask you to mail it to them before they will issue a visa.
