Montreal Consulate question

Ok strange question. Do the vending machines take CAD or American?

Ok - do you really think some American vending machine company drives all the way up to the US Consulate in montreal to service 1 machine and puts American snacks in it whch you have to buy with US currency? Hmm????

JK - no, of course you can use your loonies

Um yes! Well the vending machines in Niagara Falls take both currencies, and I figured since we have to bring 131$ for the interview cash, they might take american.

You know, it doesn't really sound that far fetched

Do they have a television in the waiting room at the consulate in Mtl? They do in Calgary, so just wondering.

I don't think they do, no! I don't recall seeing one, anyhow

No, me either. If there was a TV my husband would have noticed, trust me :P

Vending machines in the falls really take both currencies? I don't remember ever noticing... but I'm not a vending machine person. I actually asked my husband back when we were first dating how vending machines in the US work without loonies

I'm also going to be freaking out pretty badly at interview time. Thanks for asking about the bathrooms!! LOL

They do have a scarcely used version of the loonie in the U.S. I've come across it a few times in the vending machine world. lol It reminds me of tokens that you'd get at an arcade or something.

They say that you have to pay the $131 in U.S. currency, however, when Mel and I had our interview, I did take not that when I paid this fee, the cashier told me the price in U.S. AND Canadian currencies. I had the U.S. cash on me, so I paid with that. There is no T.V. there. The vending machines are quite limited in selection and quite expensive. I think it was $2.50 for a coke

I think I heard that America's getting rid of the Dollar Bill.

Maybe they'll start bringing those back.

Do you think 50-cent will campaign to bring back the 50¢ piece? ;)

jk...

I have heard that Americans don't like the loonie-imitator. Is that true? You guys have no idea what you're missing!! :P

We're missing a pocket full of coins rather than a nice neat wallet full of bills. I'll pass :P

But think of how quickly your piggie bank amount would add up! You'd be adding DOLLARS rather than CENTS. Literally!! And with all the damn bills looking the same, stuff is way harder to pay for :P That's going to be a big culture shock for me... losing my loonies and my monopoly money :(

I like the colour on the US bills personally.

Makes them look a little nicer.
