Hey there,

My fiance and his co-sponsor are filling out the I-134's for my interview at the moment. My co-sponsor is having a little trouble locating her W-2's, and I remember there being mention of some sort of tax receipt you can get from IRS to show your last year's tax return... not a W-2, something else. Can anyone shed light on this? I'm completely clueless about the US tax system

July 2007 - met Jesse at a beach party held by mutual friends in Long Island, NY

May 2008 - J-1 visa expired, had to move back to Australia

July 2008-September 2008 - lived with Jesse for three months in Staten Island, NY

March 2009 - Jesse comes to Australia for 3 weeks

April 2009 - Engaged!

05/20/09 - I-129F petition mailed in

05/22/09 - NOA1!

05/25/09 - touch

09/09/09 - NOA2!

10/01/09 - due to fiance's illness, we are abandoning pursuit of K-1 at this point. Packet 3 received from consulate but won't be returned.

Your sponsor can get her IRS Transcripts - just get her to call 800 829 3676 and order them over the phone. That's what I asked my fiance to do. We are waiting on them now, hopefully it's not that long of a wait!

They are quite expensive though (around $50 each), so let her know that. I asked my fiance to get the last 3 years done because there are some threads here that say it is safe to have extra. Not sure if that is still the case with a co-sponsor though.

Good Luck!

Tax transcripts are FREE. Tax return COPIES are expensive, because they have to actually dig up the form you filed out of the archives. The transcript can be printed out from their systems in a matter of seconds. You can order over the phone (1-800-829-1040 and follow the prompts) and they'll mail them the same day, generally arriving within a week; or, if you need them faster, you can talk to an operator and get them faxed while you wait, or request them in person at a local IRS office. Whichever way you go, they are absolutely FREE.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

That's good to know! And my co-sponsor can use those transcripts in place of the W-2, right?

hmmm maybe my fiance has ordered the wrong forms? Cr@p! I know he hasn't paid anything yet so maybe I just got my wires crossed. We already have his tax returns, but wanted the transcripts. Thanks for the heads up, I will look into it

Most people get them in a week or so if they order through the automated phone system.

Phew, just spoke to my fiance. He ordered the transcripts and said they were free and we should expect them soon. Lucky he's a smart cookie :)

Still, thanks for the advice guys
