Is this the I-130 NOA 1?

What the letter says:

Just want to double check that I actually got NOA 1.

In the top right corner it says "I-797C, Notice of Action"

Basically it just states that they have received my I-130.

Notice type is listed as "Receipt Notice"

The rest of the letter just talks about Receipt notice, processing time, if this is an I-130, something about biometrics and if my address changes.

Reason I ask

It doesn't say anything about needing to send in an I-129f or anything else.

I guess after reading through the guides I sorta expected the NOA-1 to explicitly direct you on the next action.

I'm pretty sure it is the NOA-1, but thought I would double check.

Also, at the bottom of the page is the California USCIS address. I'm assuming that if this is my NOA-1 then I need to send my I-129F there.

Side Note

If this is the NOA-1... then they're on top of things lately. Only took them 5 days to process.

Our time line for CR1 visa took only 5 months and 1 week or 156 days; from the filing the I-130 on the 03-12-2009 to Approval of NOA2 on the 05/13/2009, then Interview on the 08/18/2009 at Manila, Philippines. We had a daughter on the 11-12-2010 named AISHA JOY means HAPPY LIFE.a1_opt-1.jpga2_opt-1.jpga3_opt-1.jpg

Quick follow up question before I send the I-129f out.

The guide says to send a copy of the NOA-1 and the Transfer notice where your I-130 was sent.

I've only got the NOA-1. So should I still be waiting for a transfer doc from USCIC?

Or does the NOA-1 from California double as the transfer doc?

Not trying to be rude by not answering but I'm not sure. I'll be checking back here to see once someone posts. The whole I-130 thing is a different animal.

No worries, even saying "I have no idea" does help me out. If nobody knows, then chances are - I'm over thinking it.

Probably time to just grip it and rip it.

Suppose I could go probe the other K-3ers; I just feel more at home in the dysfunctional Russian forum.

Cool Beans !

The NOA-1 contains the address of CSC - so send your K-3 packet there...

You don't have a transfer notice, so don't sweat it... If you were homed to VSC, and your NOA-1 is from CSC, the contractors at the Chicago Lock Box decided already to send your petition to California. IMO, that's a better thing.

IMO, processing should go fast at CSC. Good Luck !

I just got one of those "I'm an idiot" moments.

I think I figured out all my confusion.

After reading through the guide, I got the impression that you had to send in the 129f as part of the 130 process.

I-129F = K-3

I-130 = CR-1/IR-1

And of course married couples have the choice of going with both or only one.

However, I would rather have the CR-1/IR-1. So I should have been reading the CR-1/IR-1 guide; turns out I was reading the K-3 guide (which rightfully directs you to file both).

Thanks, I appreciate the quick follow up and good input.

Turns out I don't need to worry about it anyway.

Ya, I think the CR-1 is superior to the K-3, but there are some strong reasons to stay with a K-3.

If you are solely filing the I-130, then you don't have to do additional paperwork right now for a K-3 submittal. It's an entire SET of documents, ya? PITA, IMO.

Maybe you will get superfast processing at CSC? I've been noticing NOA-1--NOA-2 durations recently from 28 days to 4 months.. WOO HOO!

But hei - if you want to be proactive, have something NEW to read, take a look at http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...he_NVC_ShortCut

Thanks, Darnell.

Feel free to weigh in on pies and guns as well.

Folks, this a perfect example of what a "visitor" should be to the RUB forum. Polite, upbeat.... and helpful! Hope to see you again Darnell.
