Time abroad limitations during conditional status

Hello folks,

I've been trying to pin down exactly how long my wife can be out of the USA with her conditional green card. I understand about the reentry permit but is it needed after 6 months or one year? Opinion seem to be split 50/50 between these two time frames although the CIS website states one year. Bottom line: my wife has left the country and won't be returning for 9 months. This is well before her conditional green card expires. Do we need to worry about re-admission with that time frame? Has anybody else had a problem being admitted with only a card after being out for more than 6 months but less than a year? Thanks in advance...

Donny

Re-entry may be needed for stays outside the US for 12 months or more.

We have some friends that left in November, just got back this month and did not need a re-entry permit.

Staying outside the US for more than six months can cause the naturalization process to be interrupted (three years for spouses). There are certain exceptions, but I do not know them well enough to comment.

Naturalization

3/23/14 - N400 package sent to Phoenix

3/27/14 - N400 package delivered

4/3/14 - NOA1 receipt date

4/4/14 - check cashed

04/29/14 - biometrics date

07/01/14 - interview date

xx/xx/xx - Oath Ceremony

Our son is a student in Moscow and comes back here for summers. we were TOLD by the director of the St. Albans local office that LPR's (conditional status hasd nothing to do with it) staying outside the US for MORE THAN 6 MONTHS "should" get an AP. He stated that their was an exception for students and that our son would be fine as long as he was not outside the US more than 12 months AND had student ID to display when he returned. I will not be surprised if someone reports being told differently. In any case, we applied for and received an AP for him to return in June, 2010. He will have that and his green card when he comes back.

He also told Alla and I, "Don't worry, we will not keep him out of the US in any case" OK, but I prefer not to take chances.
