I'd be very careful before making a claim like that, seeing as it was muslims who laid down the foundation of mathematics and science? It sure wasn't jews or the greeks, or the romans for that matter...

Sure - Arabs contributed greatly to the advancement of science, medicine and philosophy

when Europe was a scientific backwater buried in the darkness of the Middle Ages, but we

are talking about the Arab-Islamic culture today, not 600 or 1000 years ago.

So what? Do you think that is to do with Islam, or with the fact that 3rd world countries with badly managed economies can't conpete with the likes of the US and the EU?

You might ask the same question about most African nations.

ok, who got fishdude wound up this time?

Not wound up. Just respectfully disagreeing. Something you seem to find remarkably difficult ;)

Well you brought it up. I'm staying on topic.

Got anything to add - or are you going to hijack this thread with cheap smart-mouthing?

I think the real question here to the original poster is, yes, you may know all that... BUT I ask you this

Do you know how many licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop?

You might ask the same question about most African nations.

First, you don't need a strong economy to produce great scientists, musicians or writers.

Many US and EU based artists are in fact very poor and always will be, and yet there is

no shortage of young people aspiring to the field.

Second, oil-rich Arab countries are not exactly "badly managed 3rd world economies".

Of course, not every Saudi or Kuwaiti citizen is a millionaire, but most are subsidized to

a basic decent standard of living.

Not at all

Really?

The Jews are not demonstrating with their dead on the streets, yelling and chanting and asking for revenge; the Jews are not promoting brain washing the children in military training camps, teaching them how to blow themselves up and cause maximum deaths of Muslims and other non Jews.

The Jews don't hijack planes, nor kill athletes at the Olympics; the Jews don't traffic slaves , nor have leaders calling for Jihad and death to all the Infidels.

The Jews don't have the economic strength of petroleum, nor the possibilities to force the world's media to see "their side" of the question.

Perhaps the world's Muslims should consider investing more in standard education and less in blaming the Jews for all their problems.

The Global Islamic population is approximately 1,200,000,000, or 20% of the world population.

They have received the following Nobel Prizes:

Perhaps the world's Muslims should consider investing more in standard education and less in blaming the Jews for all their problems.

One would assume that 2000-years without a homeland, being pursued relentlessly around Europe, persecution, ethnic hatred etc, a culture (ie the Jews) would learn that the only way to get ahead would be by industry, hard work, academic success, the strength of the family unit etc ~ the Jewish diaspora has worked wonders for them as an ethnic group. Indeed, in Asia, the Chinese have similar characteristics, and this is why when you talk about the Chinese diaspora, they are referred to as the "Jews of Asia."

Generally speaking, some cultures do place a greater emphasis on the value of education than others.

So what? Do you think that is to do with Islam, or with the fact that 3rd world countries with badly managed economies can't conpete with the likes of the US and the EU?

What does that have to do with Islam though?

Islam has much to do with it. Within the Islamic Republic of Iran, one must draw the distinction between 'Iranians' and 'Persians'. Indeed many of the Persians are wonderful, gifted, talented, intelligent people, with a proud heritage coming from a 5000-year-old civilization. Many Persians look down upon the "Iranians" for their submission to Islam and for destroying Persian culture.
