alright thanks guys..

i'll try the soda.. then the milk.. because the milk here in algeria, you have to boil it first and then let it rest because the milk here doesnt come pasteurized...

sorry b. dean.. no ranch dressing here.. havent found anything that resembles it either, i'll have to remember that for next tip.

yes rob I made sure not to touch my face or eyes at all... my sister in law made sure that I didnt because she did that before lol

well i learned about "not touching" the hard way!!! ;) Made the mistake of going to "tinkle" after cutting up some serrano chili peppers... WAS THAT a mistake!!! So I feel for your situation sweetie!!!

Don't worry about boiling the milk Icey... you're NOT going to drink it!!!:P

Did you put it in a bowl of milk after you relize you made a bad mistake after tinkle?

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Jalapenos are the greastest thing every invented. Cut em up and add them to everything. Never had mexican food?? Regular staple in their diet.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

i want to say that it is Capsicum frutescens (Siling Labuyo). we grow these back in the philippines and they are really hot... even when they are green. it is one of the hottest chili peppers around. it (the picture you posted) does look very much like what we grow back home. i would try milk to yogurt to ice cream. dairy products should help ease the pain.

Hi ya'll

So I went upstairs to our parents apartment today to get some vegetables to make dinner.. and there was a pepper.. looked like a green pepper.. smelled like a green pepper.. cut it all up into little pieces.. then I realized it was not a green pepper.. it is some kind of hot pepper... then my face started to go numb.. and after a little bit, it started burning like hellfire.. after 45 minutes the burn went away.. but now my hand is burning.. I've tried everything.. washing thouroughly, rubbing my hand through ice, butter, olive oil.. and it still burns !!! so badly!!

It's been burning for 6 hours and I don't know what to do!!

Can anyone help?

This is what the culprit looks like..

iceyspots,

Looks like what my wife would call prik. (JenT - jalapinos are sweet peppers by comparison).

You needed something to absorb the capsacin - water just spreads the stuff around - but it sounds like your skin has already done the absorbing, and you're unusually sensitive to the stuff.

The name in Thai is actually Prik chee fah (point to the sky pepper) it's very hot but not as hot as prik kee-noo (the very very small pepper, using here as a decorating plant.. i eat of it  ) I guess it's very similar or the same as Capsicum frutescens (Siling Labuyo) in Philippines..

umm.. yummy... i love those peppers!!

I hope that you feel better soon... seems like you are alergic to it too.. may be if it wont go away soon you should try to go see a doctor.. i actually never experience the burn that long.. hope all is well (F)

My mom made salsa once and had to cut up jalepenos. She cut up a whole bushel full...god paybacks are a real BIOTCH!!! LOL...Her hands were sore for a few days on account of how many she was cutting up without using gloves. She rang the ER and our own family physician and both told her that there was nothing she could do to relieve the pain unfortunately. The burning is nothing like a sunburn or bee sting so those remedies don't help. She tried EVERYTHING!!! I know it isn't funny for you, but if you met my mother, you would know and understand why to this day I almost pi$$ myself from laughing so hard at the thought of her running around like a madwoman!!! All I can suggest is to wait it out. It will start to go away soon enough. In the meantime, try to take your mind off of it by doing something else.
