Have you guys heard of this new bill?? Has it been approved?? Can anyone give me more information about this? This is really scary...

No I don't. My husband (USC) told me about a few minutes ago and I haven't found anything about it.

Oldest son now 21 I-130 filed by LPR dad ( as per NVC CSPA is applying here )

have run several searches on google news and not found anything yet... not saying i don't disbelieve sunflower15, as if it's a newly breaking story then it might take a few hours for the search engines to pick up on it... i'll check again tomorrow morning. if there is anything to it, then hopefully it's just something taken out of context which won't affect anyone here...

Remember that the house has 435 representatives and a large number of them are loons. They often suggest bills and such that never even make it through committee. A lot of times news outlets will pick up on these proposals because they sound scary (or way too promising). I have noticed that here in the states, Univision is often guilty of making hay out of these proposals. Even if a proposal begins to get serious talk in committee it is a long way from anything. Bills have be proposed (in the house and the senate), they have to get taken up in committe (again in both houses), then if they make it out of committee, they go to the floor for debate. Then they would have to get approved by both houses (pretty easy in the house, but pretty much need a filibuster-proof (i.e. 60+) majority in the senate if it is at all controversial, then the bills would have to get reconciled and a joint version between the house and senate versions would need to come out. Then it would get signed or vetoed by the president. Only then would it get turned into USC. Then that code needs to be turned into departmental policy before it could actually be carried out. Don't forget that there will be periods of public comment, protest, etc while this is all going on. Something as controversial as you suggest would have a looooooooong way to go before it would affect us. And who knows what the final version would look like anyway.

I heard something today about immunity for people who have been hiding money overseas from the government, but nothing about immigration. When I heard it on the news this morning it sounded like it might be about immigration so I listened more carefully, but it was about extending a coming clean campaign for people committing tax fraud. Could this be what you are referring to?

No such bill exists. Even the idea of such a bill is preposterous. On an unrelated note, would you like to buy a slightly used bridge I have recently put up for sale?

i read about this in the financial papers. in short, if you have overseas accounts they need to be reported and income from interest or investment is taxable.
