Expiration date on approved I-130 sitting in NVC?

Hello to all my VJ Friends,

On 9-22-09 I got a case status online update stating that my I-130 have been approved. It only took 28 days. I was thinking it would take at least three months. Now, I know USCIS will transfer the I-130 to the NVC.

My question is can I wait 45-60 days before paying the AOS and IV Bill? Is there an expiration date on approved I-130 that is sitting at NVC? Is there a certain time frame within which I need to pay the NVC fees?

FYI - The reason I need 45-60 days is because my wife has some exams in November that will determine her pass/fail degree after four years of college education. I would like to have her interview date in December 09/ January 10.

You friends are great. I appreciate all your help whole heartedly.

You have 1 year to respond to the NVC before they close your case.

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

You don't need to slow down the process. The earlier your case is being complete, the better. Even if visa is issued in November (which I doubt), your wife still has 6 months till she enters the US and activate the green card. Most likely you'll be done with NVC in October, will get an interview date assigned probably the second week of November for December or January. That's how I see things my friend. Good luck

BTW, please correct your timeline. :time: thanks :)

I actually called them today and asked them the same question myself. The gentlemen said, as long as you correspond with them then it will not expire. Only in the event that you do not communicate for a year, then your case will expire. :3

No need to slow down the process for you. My wife and I got our I-130 approved on 8-3-09. We just got case completed at NVC yesterday, 9-21-09, and are waiting for an interview date to be set. That will happen in early October and we're hoping for an early November interview date. If you want a December/January interview date, you should be trying to get through NVC as fast as possible, as they seem to be a bit backlogged now. Go to the LingChe NVC ShotCut guide in the wiki section of VJ for the best advice of getting through NVC as fast as possible. Good luck!

Peter

It takes 8 months for us to see each other back again since we started our visa process, and now here we are reunited back again and happy together.

First of all, congrats on your speedy I-130 approval! Mine took three times long as yours. My suggestion like others would be for you to get on with the NVC process as fast as you can. Assuming you complete NVC by the end of October or early November, you probably won't get an interview date until sometime in January with the Dhaka embassy. You can use our timeline as a reference to estimate your interview schedule.

Best of luck!

Keep going with the NVC process. Be done with the NVC. When ur case is completed, u can simply ask for later dates if you really need. And I really don't think u gonna get an interview date before than Jan 2010.

Good Luck
