She lives at home, but she doesn't "claim" anyone else, correct? If so, then 27k puts her well above the 125% poverty line for two people (you and her). If you interview is in the next month, she doesn't need her 2009 tax return, she can use the 2008 return. She can send you a copy of her W4 to be safe, but until it is closer to filing time, she doesn't have to worry about this. Of course, if she will be finished filing, then that is okay as well. Hope this helps you out!

hi guys! just need your help. we are yet to make a schedule for my embassy interview. my fiancee is just waiting for her tax return then she can give me her AOS and everything that comes with it. we are not sure if her income is enough for me to be granted a visa. i think she is way above the poverty guideline for 2 or 3 persons (she lives with her family of 5 but she doesnt have any dependent. all of them are working). she makes around $27000++. will this do? i dont know if we have to get a co-sponsor (her mom) or not. pls help us! any helpful comments will do. i really want to get this worrying thing to stop. thank you all! God bless!

I really don't understand how they proceed.

VSC approved people from December and completely skipped November filers!!

#######?

Imagine if after approving August they had jumped to October!

No rhyme or reason... I had never heard this expression before, but I see it almost daily now on VJ.

Kizza, I don't blame you one bit for looking into other options for you and Matt while you continue the LONGEST (and most unfair journey) ever.

Do you have to wait until 5 months from the date you mailed your K-1 or the date that they have on your NOA2 to inquire with USCIS?

Seems immigration, no matter what country you are going to, is a waiting game. I have a friend whose wife has been waiting for her paperwork to move/live/stay in Canada for 6 months now. And it is HIS WIFE. Waiting is the worst.

Hey Kizza, I looked into immigrating a loved one into Canada from the U.S.... based on my findings it's really only possible to do it after you've been married... I know a guy who's done both Canadian and American immigration and he said that without a doubt it was easier to immigrate to Canada... just so you know....

Yeah... that was my conclusion as well. We'd have to get married before we could file anything. Which is fine. Im already decided on doing a courthouse wedding first and then something nicer that we have time to plan and save more for.

Up til recently, it just made more sense for me to move there, since Matt is more established with the house and job etc. But now that the recession is finally catching up with his company over there, taking into account parental leave (when we have kids) and the rather strong economy here in Quebec, it is starting to make good sense to have him come here instead.

It would be a new headache... and more wait.

Anyway, I know people have waited longer than me, and others are waiting like me, just more quietly... I have talked to someone who filed at the end of August and called USCIS and they told her they havent looked at their file yet... so I imagine it is the same for us, and cortr, and more people... Which is good news since it means it's not something bugging in our file, it's just a matter of time... but who knows how long it will be? We all know some random cases take ages to get aprpoved, for no apparent reason.

After reading Kizza and Cortr's posts....I feel like I have survivors guilt...anyone else feel this way. I wish there was something that we as a group could do...stupid CSC...

another day of nothing. I might waste 30 minutes of my life tomorrow and try to talk to a supervisor at USCIS to see if I can get any more information about what, praytell, the delay is with our case. (yeah right)

meh... dont feel guilty.

it's not the fact that you guys got approved and we didnt that makes me mad, it's that they are now moving on to november if they havent even looked at our files.

If they had started adjudicating them and something was causing delays, I can understand that they are not going to hold up everybody to sort it out right away... but I just don't understand how they decide which ones are going to sit and wait while others who filed after us get processed.

Have you thought about contacting your congressman to find out what's going on? If it hasn't been touched yet, I would be concerned at this point. But look on the bright side: Canada should be an easy trip once it's through USCIS - not like the higher fraud countries, where you're most likely to go into AP regardless of your evidence/etc.
