You are welcome, though i wish it would move quickly. for you, myself and everyone. I understand the reasoning for it all but it's just ridiculous that it take so damn long.

Hang in there Kizza!!! We're all still here rooting for you!!! If it makes you feel any better it looks like I'm going to have to wait an extra month to get my interview in Vancouver due to the Olympics.... the whole city is shutting down :(

I try to tell myself that there is some legitimate reason why my case is taking longer to process than others and that we, in fact, were queued up in the proper order in an organized fashion.

Perhaps the background check is taking longer than usual.

Perhaps this, perhaps that.

But when it comes right down to it, there's nothing about my case that's particularly unusual, and I've led a pretty squeaky-clean life in the eyes of the government, so I really just don't get it.

Ughh!! seriously... The need for an AP doesnt make much sense to me. I dont understand why getting out of the country for a short period would be such a big deal.

All that waiting and feeling like my life is on hold is getting to me.

Im trying to stay positive, but I get frustrated. We both have pretty squeeky clean records. I got about 3 parking tickets & some library late fees in my whole life! lol Same with Matt... His name is pretty common, so right now it's the only thing I could see delaying our approval, on our part. But then, why wouldnt they just do the check with his SSN??

And yeah........ going through Montreal afterwards.... :( I feel like I could still be waiting in September at this rate.

I've read on here that it goes to the DHS (dept. of homeland security) first and then to the FBI for a namecheck in most cases. Names that "have hits" or are very common (for the petitioner, the USC), have to get elevated to a different department for manual verification.

Each county keeps it's own criminal court records in the U.S., then each state has a database. Unfortunately, they are stored by name. So with a name like John Smith, it's going to take a while. With a name like Dain, not so much. Haha, it's one of the few times I actually like my name. What did you say your name is? Dale? Dave? Dan?

If that's the only issue it usually only adds a month or so. At least your honey is close enough and lives in a country with reciprocity, so if it takes too long at least you can visit each other.

hi everybody! our case was filed in september too and we were desperate for news and after more than 100 days, we received our NOA2 on 6 January  one step closer.

Someone knows how long it could take the NVC to send the case to the embassy?

It's likely already through the NVC, you should give them a call and find out. You do need to talk to a live operator, they do not enter K1 visas in their automated system.

Phone number is 603-334-0700. They are open I think it was 7:30 a.m. to midnight EST. The two times I called they were very friendly and helpful.

Thanks!

I know... it is ridiculous. Next Friday, it will have been 4 months.

It's just so frustrating that they are approving october files now when there are still a good bunch of September filers and even earlier waiting.

Hey everyone! I've been reading a lot about NOA2's but not much about the next steps leading up to the interview. If you haven't begun gathering the documents you need for the embassy, start now, because there are a lot. You should be able to download the list of the embassy's website.

Also, Andrea called to make the med appt a week ago (about Jan 8) and was told there are no more Jan appts and she had to call after Jan 15 for Feb appts. She called today and got one for Feb 1. Just be aware that it could be a long wait for appts.

Also, we just re-read the instructions the embassy has on the website and noticed that it says that interviews will be scheduled no less than 1 month in advance. I thought we could get one much sooner. It also says not to call for appts. Lesson is, look very carefully at all the information your embassy has online now, and get on things if you're trying to make this quick.

good luck to everyone and keep posting!
