If I'm understanding your question right, most of the time (and I'm not sure about your specific embassy) the fee is paid during your interview. Again, I dont know if this is the same for every embassy.

Definitely depends on the embassy. We have to pay ours ahead of time and show a receipt to get into the interview. I would check the information for your particular embassy.

I am just curious, if I read your timeline correct you plan to get married on Oct. 10th, but at the rate your process is going you should have your visa in the next few months. Are you planning to delay the process or just not activate your K1 until the last minute at 6months? Just curious

Montreal is a bit backlogged, so we might not end up getting an interview until April or beyond, so in a way, it kind of works out. Ideally, I'd like to have our interview after May 14th. If things worked the way we'd like them to, I would travel up to Canada in May, we'd have it the interview in June or July, and then he would POE in August when he brought me home (at the end of the month, of course) and then we'd get married Oct. 10th. I'm crossing my fingers that it happens like this, but I'm also not holding my breath. If we get an interview date earlier/later than that, we'll improvise!

That sounds great! Yeah, we just found out on Friday that our Packet 3 has been mail....I expected a 3-6month wait (as can be typical for China) but it only took a month! OMG! So, we could be looking at an early April interview as well. We are still trying to decide what to do once she arrives...90 days is not enough to plan a lot and especially when she has never been to the US. So, we may do a simple ceremony in the park or just the court house and then plan something more for later. Then again, why worry so much...I just want her here! haha....why am I still awake? Nite!

In US embassy Manila, you need to pay it at any Banco de Oro Branches.. so you should have the payment receipt before you go for the interview.

This is correct. And if for some reason you need to re-schedule your interview the fee payment is valid and can be used for 6 months.

This is also explained in the K1 instructions in the 2 links (english and tagalog) in my previous posting.

Your first name is John, is your last name also very common? It's pretty well-known the more common your name is, the longer the background check takes.

Think of the thousands of hits on a name like John Smith...

My last name is fairly unusual. It's certainly not common, but I know there are a few others out there with the same name.
