Just a question: is someone who sent their petition around Sept. 15 still waiting for their NOA2?

Im not sure but my noa2 is sept10,2009 and i still did not get and approval. I called before the holidays and of course they told me the same thing whatever is on uscis website. Anyway, the processing time is 5 months But im still hoping that it would come sooner! It's like everyday im checking my status and no touch at all since sept11. =(

I'm actually surprised with myself. I have not called NVC once, and I really don't have any intentions to. I know how to check their shipping out, and the last few shipments have had papers going to Montreal, so I'm content with that. :) I also know I have another 3-6 month wait for the whole interview process, but this is the final stretch; I'm happy with the pace right now. :) I'm so looking forward to May, though, because that's when I get to see him again, and what's comforting about it is that I know that I will not have to sat goodbye to him again at the end of this trip!!! :D

I hope you all had a wonderful New Years, and I wish you all speedy processing times!!

Same here, I keep checking my status and nothing changes, our last touch was on September 21. I was getting worried that we were the only ones left with no approval, but apparently we are not alone. I know the processing time is 5 months, yet I was hoping to be approved sooner, too.

Well, there's not much we can do, let's just keep hoping and hoping.

Yahoo for all the September filers who have been approved. Wow, right before Christmas so many people got approved. CSC is getting closer to the October filers. Hopefully the NVC will process things speedily.

It really depends a lot on the commonality of your name. If your name is John Smith you can almost guarantee a "hit" and further processing on the background check, which is basically all this step is, an extensive federal background check on the petitioner. The more common your name, the longer it takes (so I've read).

If your name is relatively rare or unique (provided you have no criminal history yourself) it gets processed faster.

If you had any governmental clearances, military or private company, that will require further checking (so I've read, but I'm not sure why).

If you're a frequent traveler overseas and have been to many different countries (especially those that have issues with terrorism), expect an even longer wait.

If you have a criminal history, especially with domestic abuse, sexual crime, or drug-related crime, expect the longest wait or no approval at all.

If none of those apply to you, you're probably just at the bottom of the box and your NOA2 will be very soon. Remember there's typically 2000 of these a month they are processing, visajourney members are just a small percentage.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Thanks for your reply.

- my name is not very common (there might be 1 or 2 ppl with the same name+family name here in Italy).

- no governmental clearances of any sort.

- I am quite a frequent traveler, went several times to the US and mainly to other EU contries (UK, Germany, Austria). a few travels to Brazil for tourism/visiting friends. never been to the Middle East.

- no criminal history.

- I'm probably at the very bottom of the box, and hopefully our NOA2 will be here very soon. at least I hope this is the reason why it's taking so long.

The commonality of the petitioner's name in the US is the one that matters, the USCIS processing is a background check of the petitioner (the U.S. citizen) not the beneficiary. The beneficiary shows their ability to come to the US with the medical exam and police clearances required for the visa interview. I've also read the NVC does a brief check on the beneficiary, basically checking if the beneficiary has previously overstayed a visa or committed any fraud on previous applications/ visas.

I'm assuming you're the beneficiary with the "here in italy". Forgive me if I assumed wrong.

In other news, it appears from DHL website that Manila received our package from NVC last evening. We should be able to set our appointment today if they get it entered in their database. The good/ bad news is they received packages from the 28th, 29th, and 30th all last night. So the good part is yes, ours is most likely there, the bad part is they have a lot to enter or several packages to enter.
