OMG. Such fantastic news. Congratulations! Maybe now they've moved on to September for good... one can hope. :)

For the people who got notified via text at 7:30ish or so, what timezone are you guys in?

Garfield's in central, so 7pm here (same town as him) would be 5pm at CSC -- quittin' time, I'm sure.

Yeah...central time. I am guessing that the adjudicator may have multiple files that are finished and then does "the magic" just before quitting time. Pure speculation, but who knows! :)

Not that I want to keep people up all night looking at the USCIS page or waiting for text messages.. but when I got my text from VSC it came at 9:15pm EST.

I was suprised by that, but was then told that they have contract workers who work in the evening on some nights.. updating stuff that was done during the day. There are a few of us who got our notifications between 9:00pm - 10:00pm EST.

OK.. now that I have said that, people will be watching thier phones all night :)

This is unlikely due to the sheer amounts of personal information that they, by law, are obliged to keep confidential, and the background checks that revolve around it. It's more likely due to a delay in the relay or update system.

No, it is true. There is a Q&A session we can find on this site with a former adjudicator and he explains all this.

People work with highly confidential info from home all the time... I do. My clients just make me sign confidentiality agreements...

Hi guys,

congrats to you who received NOA 2!!

I was wondering why my timelime was adjusted (positively) although there were just 2 petitions approved this week. And why are they already processing september 11 right now although apparently there were almost no approvals?

My other question is whether CSC will tell you the good news over the phone (text message)? Do you have to sign up somewhere for that service? We did not sign up for case updates at USCIS, is that bad? I just don't wanna check another website all the time... and become more frustrated ;-)

I hope we all get approved before Christmas. That would be the best Christmas ever :-)

Stay positive, it will happen!

Go to the USCIS website...

http://www.uscis.gov

And on the left navigation bar there's a link about checking your case status. Do that, and then it will take you into the area. There's an option to create an account, and once you've done that and you're signed in, you can add "case numbers" to your account. Once the case numbers are in your account, you can add/remove email and text alerts for when they change status.

In the thread, on the main page, where Gary has the chat with the VSC Director, he states that employees do work from home and take files with them. To be honest, I was extremly bothered by this just for the reasons you stated.

Congrats to everyone who has received NOA2! I was signed up for an email alert but just added text message alert; sounds like a fun way to find out. I'm expecting it in about a week based on the dates of the current approvals.

Are people sending any paperwork (i.e. affidavit of support) before getting the approval? Any reason to?

Yeah, signing up for the USCIS updates is just another layer of frustration, but I am glad that I did sign up for the text and email notifications. Otherwise I would have to wait for the physical NOA2 to arrive before I would know my status. I really don't know why we are not seeing any additional approvals this week...really guys...2 approvals is all you are giving us!? I am going to keep hanging with you folks, I have enjoyed reading this thread and want to see everyone to the end. Over the last couple weeks I have identified some potential issues that we may face at the interview stage and I want to share. Keep in mind that these come from the folks posting about the Chinese embassy and may not apply, but still good to know.

1. Letter of Evolution of Relationship (notarized), and sent closer to the interview date. This seems to have gotten some people, the interviewer asked for this and if not produced resulted in a blue slip.

2. If DIVORCED: Letter of Explanation of Divorce (notarized). Again, they are looking for the USC's explanation of why you are divorced. Maybe they want to ensure that the fiance(e) is not the reason. Two folks got dinged on this one and resulted in blue slips.

3. I-134 evidence. Even though the instructions call for two of the items on the list...I would recommend giving your fiance(e) at least 3 years of tax transcripts, several recent paystubs, bank information, ect. It is better to have a "backup" file of information that can be accessed if, and when, the interviewer decides to ask for additional information.

4. Also, one couple interviewed this week was asked to present 3 copies of the I-134! REALLY? Why I don't know, but this brings up the point to have extra copies of every form needed for the interview. I know it is extra work, but you can always shred the extras later...rather than get dinged.

5. Translations: be sure that the place that you have documents translated and notarized are actually authorized for this service. Some places will offer this, but are not official and will result in troubles. Ask in your regional forum for advice on where is good for your region.

Okay, off the soap box, but I also want to share this information so that others don't have unnecessary troubles. If anyone else has any "pearls of wisdom" please add them. :)

No, unless there is something specific to your embassy, you won't have a case number assigned at the embassy so I don't see the point of sending any paperwork. The affidavit of support is presented at the interview, again unless there is something different about your embassy's procedures. Good Luck! Keep us posted.

You have to keep in mind the fact that not everyone who has applied for a visa is a member here. There were probably hundreds of approvals last week, but all we'll know about are the TWO that are members here.
