Does anyone know what fees have to be paid in the foreign country to the US embassy? It looks like $131 for the ds-156, but there's this DS-230 too, and it's not clear if there's a fee to that.

Any day now we'll start getting those Sept noa2's!

I dont think the fees are related to the forms per say. I believe the $131 fee is a "visa production fee".

That is correct, you pay for the visa not the forms. You will also have to shell out for the medical which will run another $100 or so.

The cost of the medical varies quite a bit from one country to another.

In Canada, the medical is closer to $300.

Ok, I finally got to a page that helped me. I went to the US Embassy in Bogota page and that gave very good information specific to getting prepared for the interview there. It listed medical exam fees and document delivery fees, and also listed the $131 fee (ds-156). I was worried for a second when I saw on another page that there was a few hundred dollar fee for the ds-230, but that must be for another visa.

I also read that any documents in Spanish or English do not need to be translated. That's a big yay! because I figured that was another expense.

The point being, check YOUR foreign embassy website and look at the instructions for the K1 packet. Here's the Bogota one, just in case you want to see what I'm talking about. http://bogota.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/cons...ctionsfeb09.pdf

That is correct, you pay for the visa not the forms. You will also have to shell out for the medical which will run another $100 or so.

The $131 is the interview fee.. you have to pay this before going to the interview and is not refunded if you are not issued the visa. Medical fee differs by country, as someone already said.. in Turkey it's arund $200 plus the vaccinations

There is no fee for the production of the visa itself.

9 days!! woohoo! :luv: I hope you have a great trip! Maybe you'll get your NOA2 while you are there!

I dont know if I hallucinated or if they messed up their date and changed it right away, but I thought yesterday's approval (andrew and lorena) was the first september-filer approval... I swear I saw their send date as 09-25 and NOA1 as 09-27, which is after my date!! Gave me a foretaste of how happy I will be when it finally happens!! I'd better put some champagne to chill! It has to happen very soon!

August is approved at more than 61%.

The medical fees in Colombia are like $150-- funny, because I went to the ER and was admitted to a private hospital for about 4 hours and paid the whole thing out of pocket for about $120, including all meds.

Here's some exciting news for me. I've picked out an engagement ring for Andrea when she comes. I don't think this will be a problem that she doesn't have a ring already or that I haven't officially proposed, considering the distance. It is our intention to get married. I mean, anybody can put on some ring before they go into the embassy for the interview, so they must not place importance on that.

It looks like I picked the wrong week (last week) to start checking Igor's list, what a bummer!

Congratulations on the ring!! that is exciting! I dont think it is a problem either if she doesnt have a ring at the interview. From what Ive read in other threads, it's often the case. And I know a lot of people havent "officially" proposed.

Just so you know though, they do sometimes ask at the interview when you got engaged. I say that just so that she expects it and doesnt get flustered if they do ask. (I get scared they'll ask me a question that throws me off and I'll look like Im lying or something - I've been interrogated before and they have a way of asking weird questions just to see your reaction... not that asking when you got engaged is weird...)

Yeah, the last 10 days or so have been a bummer on Igors list, but Im thinking things will pick up after Veteran's day. And I know these guys like to do overtime because it pays so well, so maybe some took files home to work on them and we'll get a bunch of approvals tomorrow  Ive decided I would be stubbornly positive about this.

It's 11/11. A good day to make wishes.

Hi everyone,

we're quite new in this forum.. and I have to say it's wonderful how everyone helps each other. We filed our 129-F about 2 months ago. I really hope we will receive NOA 2 until christmas.

I've got one question: where can you see how many cases were approved at CSC per day?

Sorry, it might be a stupid question, but sometimes we're just overhelmed with all the information.

All the best for you

At the top of the page it says Immigration Timelines. If you click on that it will bring up a page and in BOLD print it says IGORS LIST. If you click on that it will tell you the last 15 people to be approved and if you scroll down further to whatever month you filed in you should find your name as long as you've filled in your timeline. Also on that page that says IGORS LIST to the left of that it will say view timeline and it will show your timeline and the approximate date that you should be approved based on the timelines of the people here on VJ.

Hope this helps and good luck to you!
