Erm.... I call bullsh!t. Is there one and only service center? When CSC stops working, VSC gets to it, and vice versa?

:diablo:

geez... Im getting new gray hairs everyday, Im sure.

Nonetheless. Although I was disappointed to see only 1 approval this morning, my timeline did move ahead by 12 days or so. So I am still happy.

But seriously, what the hell. A little consistency please. Like, 5 approvals a day from now on.

and August is approved at 56-58%... I cant remember exactly now. But Im thinking another 12-15% and they'll be working on us.

I hope you are right kizza! From what I remember, approvals for July filers slowed down after passing 50% so I'm hoping that August filers continue getting approved quickly like last week and don't slow down. Although not many approvals this week :(

Come on CSC!!!! Don't slow down now!!! I want NOA2 this month! lol

And when I told Matt there had been no approvals in the last 2 days, he said "that's fine, there'll just be tons on Monday."

I hope you two are right.

I was thinking the same thing...####### nobody was approved? I'm ok with waiting a bit now that John is here it doesn't seem so bad to wait. But for all you folks without your loved one it's hard to wait. I was getting antsy before he got here. It will be nice to finally see a September CSC filer approved.

I just hate feeling powerless.

But... here's a little hope. I know there is a least one August filer who was approved this week and hasnt updated their timeline. So let's hope there are more.

It does suck but it's bound to get better. Like I said before...even at this rate we are still ahead of the game. I orginally planned on this process taking about 8 months...so to think that it could be finished a 2-3 months before that is enough to keep me satisfied!

Well I agree with you, and I dont mean to get "greedy" with the approval times, but I just wish we would see some consistency. I wish they would finish approving a month before jumping to the next when they are 3/4 done, and keep a steady pace.

I started the process expecting a 6-9 month deal, so I was glad to see things might go faster than predicted, but then realised I might get stuck in the FBI namecheck for 30 days because 2 years ago I answered questions on some investigation that had nothing to do with me, and then learned that Montreal can take 4-6 months to give an interview date. Im still optimistic things will go smoothly, but Im a little antsy for things to get moving because Im scared my petition might take a little longer to get approved and that I'll still have some wait ahead of me once it is approved.

On a brighter note, I dreamt last night that I got the approval notice and headed straight to the consulate and the guy said my visa was approved. After I left I realised I didnt even have my passport or any papers for the interview. But it was easy as pie! then I thought, sh!t, I havent even had time to tell Matt! :luv: It all happened so fast, it got me in a good mood!!

Anyway... here's to a lot of approvals this week, and to our first september approvals!!

Does anyone know what fees have to be paid in the foreign country to the US embassy? It looks like $131 for the ds-156, but there's this DS-230 too, and it's not clear if there's a fee to that.

Any day now we'll start getting those Sept noa2's!

Ok, I finally got to a page that helped me. I went to the US Embassy in Bogota page and that gave very good information specific to getting prepared for the interview there. It listed medical exam fees and document delivery fees, and also listed the $131 fee (ds-156). I was worried for a second when I saw on another page that there was a few hundred dollar fee for the ds-230, but that must be for another visa.

I also read that any documents in Spanish or English do not need to be translated. That's a big yay! because I figured that was another expense.

The point being, check YOUR foreign embassy website and look at the instructions for the K1 packet. Here's the Bogota one, just in case you want to see what I'm talking about. http://bogota.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/cons...ctionsfeb09.pdf

One last thing, the instructions said:

SPECIAL NOTE FOR K1 VISA APPLICANTS

Do not marry your petitioner before you have received your visa and traveled to the United States. The law requires K1 visa applicants to remain legally free to marry throughout the process. If you get married, even to your fiancé(e), your petition will be cancelled and cannot be reinstated. If you get married, your petitioner must file a new petition, and you must start your case from the beginning.

This is interesting, because I want wondering about this. I don't see how they'd know if you got married in the foreign country within a couple months of getting the k-1 visa, but it doesn't seem like something to mess with.

I dont think the fees are related to the forms per say. I believe the $131 fee is a "visa production fee".

That is correct, you pay for the visa not the forms. You will also have to shell out for the medical which will run another $100 or so.
