This really doesn't have anything to do with the K1 process but I want to share anyhow. I just made my first purchase towards our wedding...well beyond my dress :) I'm so excited to be making plans. I just can't wait for John to get here so we can start our life! Here's to the future! Good luck everyone!

What did you get, what did you get??

I know what you mean!! Im the one who will be moving to be with Matt, but I just cant wait.

More approvals today btw!!

I got my dress a long time ago because I found it and thought it was perfect for the garden wedding we are going to have. But I bought turqois paper lanterns to hang in the tent we will have our reception in. Another friend of mine is getting married in Feb and she hasn't bought anything yet. I think she's annoyed that I've started HA! Oh well I'm excited about our future and I'm ready to get started so if this is what I need to do to pacify my time until John gets here so be it!

That sounds pretty!! I love turquoise.

I totally agree about pacifying yourself with the planning! When is your wedding? I would do the same if the wedding was in my home town.

I was starting to plan for our wedding too (with the same reasoning as you - to give me something fun to look forward to), but my fiance's brother started getting too involved and discouraged me!! he was taking over my plans LOL

We are shooting for June 5th. Since we are having it in my parents garden the only thing that we really HAVE to reserve in advance is the tent, chairs, and tables and if I have to change the date I won't loose out on the deposit for that stuff since I will be using it eventually :)

That's great. I wish we could have a place like that to do it at. Would love a June wedding! : )

How did your fiances brother take over? Is he gay? HA! Not that there's anthing wrong! Take charge. My mom can be a little crazy like that sometimes but she knows what she says an opinion and not a decision so all in all I think it's going ok.

Gay? Oh yeah. Not that there's anything wrong with that. LOL hehe I started talking to him about ideas for fun, and he just ignored all my ideas and came up with his choice of flowers , a band, a venue, a theme, etc. He wants things to be very "classy", but it just looks stuffy and pretentious to me... So he kind took the fun out of it for me and added stress, because he takes things really personal when people try to say it's not what they want. Whatever... Im done talking about it with him... I think we'll do a civil wedding at city hall when I first arrive, and then plan the wedding we want, without so much pressure. We're thinking a beach wedding in a resort.

I try to busy myself with wedding plans, too, but it's not working. We pretty much have everything planned... all we have to do is start reserving stuff and buying stuff. We're shooting for July 31st, but we have a backup date of October 10th... JUST in case, lol.

October 10th is a great date!

Hey all..I had to break it to my parents (who live in New Zealand) that unfortunalty I will be getting married in the US because

I have to with this visa..we may come back to NZ and have something for my family down the track..Im hoping my immediate family will come over..but its hard when I dont know exactly when the wedding will be until I know I have the visa..arghhh

I know, it's tough. When we first announced we were engaged, and that we had to get married in the states, my mom tried guiltripping me for days, going on about how traditionnally the wedding takes place in the bride's hometown. I kept saying we had no choice, it was a major condition of the visa, but she acted like I was a bad daughter!!! Now my mom realised it wasnt my decision and came around, but my dad and brother arent excited at all about travelling to come to my wedding : ( lame arses.

What we are planning on doing is a civil wedding as soon as I get there, a symbolic wedding in a resort at the beach - with hopefully our immediate family and close friends, and receptions in both our hometowns at a later date for the people who couldnt make it.

BTW, where are you from in NZ? I spent over a year in oz and about a month in NZ about 4 years ago. I really want to go back - I had such a good time... it was gorgeous and people were so nice.

I spent a couple of days in Wellington. It was a nice town! I dated a really nice guy from Wellington too... he had moved to Oz as well though.

I was in Melbourne. I had such a great time!! I didnt want to leave. Made awesome friends. Where are you?

We thought it was kind of quirky, too, since we're both into computers... it's kind of like binary code, lol.

We're crossing our fingers for July. The good news is that we're seeing each other next month ANNNNND we're getting engagement pictures done! We had some studio ones done last February, but these will be the real deal. :D!!

I have 2 1/2 months to go until I see John. As soon as we get past Halloween I figure it will be downhill. After that there's always something going on between Thanksgiving and the Christmas holiday. He told me he's not even counting December :) He's a funny man. It's funny to look at the date changing on the timeline estimate. I think I'll probably wet myself if we actually got the NOA2 prior to me going to see him. Good start to the holiday season that's for sure!

While I'm happy for the Vermont filers I'm super annoyed with the fact that they've now come up only a day behind CSC. I keep waiting for something to move on Igor's list but it's NOT!!!! Ohhhh come on already!

I'm anxious for NOA2 -- getting the feeling I'll get it around Christmas. That's when my problems will really start. Apparently, the Montreal Embassy is horribly backlogged (worse than CSC) and it's taking 6+ months for interview dates for some people.

Now I'm scared and worried ... Sigh. :( July 31st seems to be flittering out of sight for me. Hell, I'm even worried that October 10th might be gone as well. There just seems to be no change with Montreal for awhile now... :(

Hey guys,

Maybe this thought might help alleviate the frustration your feeling towards the lack of movement on Igor's List. I've noticed that some people are really slow posting their NOA2 dates. Three people who received their notices on the 7th only posted their data today. So, it's possible that things are moving along but we just don't see the progress since Igor's List relies on us posting our own data. Also, it looks like a few couples have duplicate listings so the line is actually a bit shorter than it appears to be. Try to keep upbeat! Before you know it we'll all be posting our giddy girlie messages that our applications have broke away from the pack and are winging their way across the globe to their respective consulates. In the meantime, sit back and overdose on all the little things you do that drives your fiance nuts. :P I know that I'm going to need to reel it in on a few of my own bad habits.

Huh? Excuse me? Bad habits? I have NO idea whatyou are talking about :innocent:

I booked the tent, tables, and chairs for the wedding. John said to me y ou LOVE this planning stuff. I told him it just gives me something to think about other than this immigration and him not being here. Thankfully I've had plenty of things going on at work so that's helping the time go fast!

Oh I would just like to freak out a little. I can't believe how quickly VSC is processing those K1 visas and here we sit. How super frustrating is that? You have to be happy for them but my g-d! Here the CSC people sit waiting, hoping, and wishing for just a little bit of speed on the processing :( I'm officially annoyed! HA!

I know... it's frigging disheartening. I really wish CSC would keep a steady pace.

I recomfort myself by thinking that at least, CSC seems to work on its backlog more than VSC, because as much as I would like to be approved very very soon, I would really hate to be skipped in the process, and still be waiting in January while people from October or November are being approved. I feel so bad for people from June or earlier watching couples from September being approved while they are still waiting. That would suck. Seeing people get approved in 20 days is fantastic... but I imagine not so much for people who have already been waiting 5 or 6 months!!

Seriously. How pissed would you be if you were a May/June filer and a person who filed 3 wks ago is approved and you are sitting on Shirleys desk while she drops jelly from her donught on the file? I would be spazzing out completely. I'm not really too worried. I don't really want to be approved any earlier than what my timeline says here. Mid December is PLENTY early for us since we are trying to plan things around my parents garden being in bloom :) I guess it's just something to see where all of us are pins and needles waiting and even though I really don't need it done any earlier due to our plans something in me says just get it done so I know at least one part is out of the way. More just to set myself at ease and stop thinking about it.

I feel for the folks who have to go through Montreal. I keep reading all these things that say they are so far behind and that the wait just to have the interview is 6 months...that's CRAZY! Don't you wonder what the heck takes so long?
