Just wanted to add that we did an early biometrics walk-in on 3pm on a Friday afternoon. It was super quiet and the longest part was just filling out the paperwork!

Great thread. Glad I looked it up. My Letter came today for March 27th at 11am. I work in DC and do not want to take the day off. So I might go in the afternoon after work at 3pm like some others said above. Yes the times have changed now its Monday to Friday 8am till 4pm. I'll report back how everything goes.

I wonder if they will be ok with me going 2 weeks early. Will I be on their system even? Or will it be ok? Any advice before I go either this week or early next.

Thank you!

Just got back from Biometrics. Can't believe that cost $80 I was in and out in 5 minutes. Went in at 2:15pm on a Friday. No one was there I feel bad for the employees they must be so bored. They were literally sitting around waiting for people to show up.

I did an early walk-in 5 days after receiving my biometrics appointment letter and 12 days before my scheduled appointment which was so inconveniently scheduled for 11am on a Wednesday? Seriously glad I did the early walk in. They didn't have any security there and stamped the form without even looking at the date.

I guess I sped up process time a little bit!

Glad I found this thread too. I have an appointment letter for June 10 and just received the letter on May 17, so I'd love to go early if it makes the process of my EAD go faster.

Dated June 20, 2013

Did early walk in for biometrics at Alexandria VA. Our appointments are three weeks from now. Arrived around 1:45 pm. Hardly anyone was there. Brought 1) appointment letter, and 2) passport for ID. (Other official forms of photo ID fine as well.)

This site had helped us so much! I read that many people have successfully done early walk-in at the Alexandria location. Couldn't get anyone on the phone to confirm, but decided to try anyway. (It's a five hour round trip drive for us, so we were really hoping you all were right about early walk-in's being allowed!)

It's such a nice office. Every single person there was kind and helpful. We showed the appointment letters and ID. We didn't mention that the appointment dates were three weeks away. No one looked at the date on the letter or cared. They just want to know that you're officially scheduled. You fill out a very basic one page form, hand it in, get a ticket, go to the next waiting room. We were called for prints in under ten minutes. Less than 30 minutes start to finish total for both of us.

TURN OFF ALL CELL PHONES OR LEAVE THEM IN THE CAR!

We were there for international adoption, but most people were there for green cards. It seemed that they had bilingual staff. I can't say enough good things about how nice that office is. Our government really does work sometimes and these people are awesome.

I also did an early walk in. Easy peasy, in and out in 30 minutes even with a little crowd there!

Just wanted to add my experience here. I got my biometrics notice for May 29th in Alexandria, and thought I would do a walk in this past Monday (May 12th). I arrived at about 2:30 pm, thinking it would not be a busy time based on what I've read here and in other places. It was extremely busy though! It looked like most of the seats inside were taken and there was a line of several people waiting to get in. I presented my notice and I was about to be let in, but then the lady at the guard station said my appointment is for the 29th, and I should come back then. I asked if there was any way I could be accommodated today, and I didn't mind waiting. They said that they had no problem doing walk ins when it was not busy, but there were already too many people there today. I asked what day of the week they're typically less busy, and she just said that so far May had been a very busy week so to be safe I should just come on my appointment day. I totally understand why they turned me away and I had no problem with it.

Not one to be defeated, I tried a different strategy. I showed up at 8 this morning (Friday) and there was already a line of maybe 20 people. They were moving in quickly though, and the guard (different person) was not even checking the appointment dates. I think when there are so many people in line, they don't really look as closely at every single persons appointment notice, they just check to see if they have a valid one. The last time I attempted this, there were very few people in line and each person got increased scrutiny. So I was able to successfully walk in today! I was out by about 8:40 am.

Hope this helps others attempting walk ins at Alexandria!

Successful early walk in at Alexandria VA.

It has been a while since there's anyone sharing their experience about early walk in. I think it might be useful for ppl in the future.

This office is still fine for early walk in. Just bring the letter and an Identification (either passport or driver's license).

I arrived around 8:40 am Monday morning. Not a lot of people were there.

It was just the same as what has been described before, in and out around 5-10 mins.

It's fast and efficient.
